If fit, top 200 is not far away
We would love if she was Yuki part 2 with a career best ranking of 83 and 6 GS MD entries.
Yuki's potential was way higher. Plagued by injuries, we hardly saw him play. Yuki has made peace with his career, which is great. But we all understand what I meant she "shouldn't be Yuki part 2".

Karman took the first set 6-0... The 17 year old qualifier was not able to touch many of Karman's shots. But the second set is a bit more even, as Karman is making a lot of mistakes due to lack of focus (the problem she has always had; keep your mind in, Karman!).... 60 22... Update: No problems; Karman experimenting with a few other shots like drops and volleys that she doesn't use normally (and not doing too well on them :) )... She broke in the 6th game and that was enough.

At the W25 in Wichita, KS, USA (Hard)

[R1] (1) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,234) d. (Q) Susanna Maltby (USA,1818), 60 63

R16 opponent TBD.

At the W25 in Wichita, KS, USA (Hard)

[R2] (1) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,234) vs. Maccartney Kessler (USA,593)

First match on court 7 on Tuesday, Kessler has 61% win/loss record for the year which is not bad as he has played mostly thru qualfiers at 25K/60K and took a set of Starodubtseva last week. So, it may not be as easy as difference in rankings make it look like.

At the W25 in Wichita, KS, USA (Hard)

[R2] (1) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,234) l. Maccartney Kessler (USA,593) 46 24 retd.

Whenever our players have to play 6-7 matches in consecutive week, they get injured. :-(

That is unfortunate. But let’s not assume that she withdrew due to injury. It could have been exhaustion, too. She’s supposed to play the W40 Hong Kong ITF in a couple of weeks. That should be a good break for her to recuperate and resume the tour.

If it's not injury related, then it's bad form to retire while losing. At least have the decency to play out the final couple of games even if you don't have the energy to play hard. That said, knowing her injury history, it's most likely an injury or at least a niggle which likely caused her to retire.

Yes, I watched parts of the match and a couple of time she seemed to be stretching her leg and in pain when she hit a passing shot winner at full stretch. So, there was some injury issue. Hope it is just a niggle.

Karman beat Leylah’s younger sister 6-4 6-4. R2 opponent will be decided tomorrow, will be someone who’s ranked in mid-600s. Looking forward to her potential QF match against Aussie top seed Kimberly Birrell.

At ITF W60 Saskatoon, Canada (Hard)

[R2] (7) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,233) vs (Q) Alana Smith (USA,624)

Karman has 50 points falling off this week from Gurugram title from last year. So, she will have to try to gather as many as possible this week. She has fallen down to #260 in live rankings as of now.

Yes 260 isn't bad, but 233 would have got her into the US Open qualifiers, 260 will not. So she needs to regain those points pronto...
