Re: Ban bhagatghavri
I would love to ban him, but I think it is a slippery slope if we start banning people for unoriginal content or lack of content.
We cannot ban for banality, that is.
If it gets to "annoyingly so", probably yes. He has not posted anything wrong, and nothing to upset anybody (name-calling, racism, etc). May be he is an intelligent spam software - in which case I am curious to observe when the software shows a bug

All the followup posts (prasen, omkara, you, Jay) triggered by the spam post, will be suddenly out of context...Atithee wrote:I think you can add him as a foe and he should disappear from your list?
I vote for these posts are already "annoyingly so".....

Re: Ban bhagatghavri
Are we witnessing an evolved form of artificial intelligence? Does this mean soon we will have Arnold look alike terminators running on streets of Mumbai with guns shouting "Hasta la vista, baby"

Re: Ban bhagatghavri
Ok, can we ban this guy now? Stupid posts are just wasting a lot of people's time.
Re: Ban bhagatghavri
bhagatghavri's posts are like a dog pissing everywhere in the neighborhood, claiming it to be it's area.
digging up some old threads and posting obvious facts / opinions like "sun rises in the east", "Mahindra sells tractors", "rolls royce makes aircraft engines", "tendulkar is the best", etc.
It truly is an insult to the good folks who have contributed to making this forum a readable one, including the memory of the good Doc, whose 7 year old post was dug up and commented on recently....

Re: Ban bhagatghavri
If we are not banning him, i propose that we ignore him. If the last post was by bhagatghavri, dont reply in that thread! That way hopefully he will lose interest,
Mods, any way to put adate filter on old threads? Say 90 days? If anyone re-activates such a thread the mods has to approve before it is active?

Re: Ban bhagatghavri
^^ That would be a tough thing. The shelf life of different threads are vastly different. Since we have never really had a bhagatghavri before, who randomly brings back old threads, I am not sure if we should over-react and take such a step, making life difficult for posters who want to discuss something "out of season" on some thread for some valid reasons - which often happens. I know that somebody like sameer would need approval very often, because he adds important items to threads like "volleyball" or "commonwealth games" or something totally "out of season". That is unfair to some of the better posters, who are often the ones who reopen older threads for posts that many readers find useful.
Anyway, I don't think the forum software gives us Mods such a facility. So the discussion is pointless too

Re: Ban bhagatghavri
Bharatghavri has been banned after today's latest round of posts from him/her/it. I thought of a ban yesterday but one post in the laughter Yoga thread seemed passable, and i gave an extra day. He/she/it has not responded to any posts with complaints, or to my warning post a few days back. Banned for good. Mod, Jay
