I hope Somdev will qualify. Since he is not defending any pts, he will earn 16pts + another 10 for playing R1.
But March 17-30, he is defending huge amt of pts, (10)+25+45=80 for reacing R3 last yr in Miami. I hope he can earn some pts in IW and defend some in Miami. Else, he will be pushed down the rankings. What we are hoping for is his ranking to go up and up and up....

I think he only earned 45 points last year for reaching round 3 because points don't get added as you win rounds.

It is not 80 points but Somdev is defending only 45 points in Miami. Hope over IW-Irving challenger-Miami , Somdev earns a few more points than those to move up the rankings.

In doubles, Mahesh is teamed with Kevin Anderson at IW, Rohan-Aisam will be there as will be Sania-Cara. No sign of Leander in the IW entry list but hope he will make it in as an on-site acceptance with Radek.

Leander is injured. He came to our campus the other day for the Aditya Birla Awards. And next weekend is Spree, our sports fest. And I heard he's coming for that too. So no IW for him I guess.

Yes, indeed, I think it is still very much winter in the US -- and will be spring towards the end of March. I suppose it is spring in Delhi and north India too at the moment, to be swiftly followed by summer (the hot dry season, pre-monsoon) in April-June.

Yuki cannot play IW as he had already put in his name at Kyoto challenger in the same week although he withdrew later. Most probably, he will play Miami qualies. He is currently 4 out but after wild cards are announced some of the Americans in the qualifying draw will make it to the main draw & Yuki should make it to the qualies.

Somdev should be seeded 2nd behind Klahn in the qualies and the cutoff has fallen as low as 418 so far. Excellent chance to qualify.

With many withdrawals from main draw, Somdev is now only 5 out from main draw at IW. Some of the injured players such as Del Potro, Nishikori, Haas are still in the main draw. I guess it is still too much to expect 5 withdrawals in a day.
