Terrific unblemished round by Anirban ... It seems after the Memorial's performance he is managed to control his nerves on tricky courses/ conditions.

It happens in golf.
Hope he goes low today like he did at Memorial and ends up top 10... :goodluck:
No idea why he is not in the field for next week - taking another break after he had 2 week break just now???

Decent final outcome, but extremely inconsistent performance: 73-63-71-67.

Solid performance by Anirban, good for $83K. Also, moves him to #64 in the WR (7th in Asia behind 3 each from Japan and S. Korea) and also #42 in the PGA tour's Fedex cup rankings where he is already guaranteed to retain his PGA card for next year.

Anirban's interview about his improved approach and attitude towards game ... He is still not sure about his entry into The Open.

Anirban Lahiri back in full swing
What did you do differently to shoot a low number at the Memorial?
I was in a good space on the golf course. I made a conscious decision to change my attitude a little when I'm playing tournaments and not push as hard as I have in the past, for results, just enjoy my golf a little more and play more freely. I did not want to get too obsessed or attached to the results, and I guess that's why I played a little bit better - because I put lesser pressure on myself.

Now that you have sealed your PGA Tour card for 2018, have you reset your target for the rest of the season?
The goals are still pretty much the same. Unfortunately, I have not played a single major or a WGC (World Golf Championships) event this year. I think I have got an invite into the PGA Championship (year's final major) already this year because I will finish inside the top-100, but I am borderline for The Open Championships, I am not certain whether I will get in or not. I'm likely to get in off my old rankings, but again that is something we will know in two weeks' time. I am not into Bridgestone or HSBC, which are the two WGCs. My goals are still the same, the Majors, WGCs, Presidents Cup and the Playoffs. Obviously, to win a maiden event on the PGA Tour is another goal. I am not going to reset the bar any lower because I believe I can play at that level, so why should I not strive for that.

Anirban Lahri came agonisingly close to winning the Players championships.
Finished as runners up and pocketed $2.18 million ; one of the highest paycheck for an Indian sportsmen from one tournament.

Anirban is also up to #89 in the world! Amazing rise of 233 spots. The 48 world ranking points that he won at the Players championship is also his most in any single tournament.

That was truly a spectacular performance. Anirban came agonizingly close to winning the Players' Championship, golf's "fifth major" by playing really well through four rounds, and holding his nerve on the final day. Really bodes well for his future.

It was also the single largest prize purse for any Indian sportsman in a single tournament.

Well done Anirban, I hope his iron game will stay with him past this tournament. He had lost confidence in them for a long time.
