Men's Junior WC 2013

Saw parts of the Malaysia match against England. I was amazed to see the composure shown by the Malaysian lads even when the English lads were trying to get under their skin. There was this incident where an English player tackled like a football player (the commentator suggested that he could try out for full-back at Wigan). The Malaysian player calmly got up and walked away for the free hit. I am sure that an Indian player would have got into a fight.

India starts fast. two moves into the circle in the first couple of minutes. Koreans a bit flat-footed and made a midfield error to give the ball to us. We earn a PC. Good save on that by Korean goalie.

31m to go to half. Korea gets a PC attempt. They have a topnotch PC guy. Seungju Yu. Graced the shoulder of our charger and hits the post. 0-0
26m - Fast-break and we get to the circle but take too long to decide things. Get another chance but whack it across and waste it. We are keeping possession most of the time.

23m to go to the half. The midfield playing well intercepting well. Just as I say it, twe intercept one but and give it tight back to them on a mistake for a one on one break away. KOR earns their second PC. Too high. 0-0 still.

20m. Gurjinder blasts one in from a free hit but nobody got a touch. 0-0. Now poor stick-work, as Gurjinder taps the ball into his own foot and gives a PC chance. Yu scores. 0-1 down. [For no reasons, our goalie, who has been so-so so far, movs to the right. It might have been stoppable otherwise. He is playing football with the guessing game here?]

If we can't advance past the first round in a Junior World Cup even when it is held in India, we are indeed in very serious trouble with our hockey.

The commentators (Cedric and a foreigner) are correctly calling it about moving the ball left or right as we get to thee top of the circle, rather than try to bet the guys at the circle. We are not passing well when at the top of the circle. We are getting to the circle fairly frequently but not threatening at all. Cedric continues to be too optimistic, saying we have too much fire power and can pick any team apart etc, too many players with senior experience, etc. I am not seeing any evidence of any of that in this event so far, but I like Cedric not being negative like Indians can get

12m. Nothing much happening for the last 8 minutes. The ball moving around in the middle. Again we go to the circle, and will not pass to the wide open Akashdeep to the right. It's terrible when the commentators call out "go right" and we just don't see it.

10m. Another attempt at a long hit and a deflection. That isn't gonna work too often. We just need to do something in the circle or at least earn a PC.

8min. Dangerous breakaway by ONE guy and three defenders can't stop him. He missed a shot by 2 inches inn the end.

68-32 in possession time but how IDIOTIC we look, is impossible to express. The foreign commentator is going crazy about the foolish play. And he is right.

Idiotic stuff. Most teams have players but we have excitable kids. Any mistake possible and our juveniles will oblige by messing up every single time. Idiotic play...Akashdeed is so sh*t, I can't believe this guy gets into the team when he can't trap any simple ball.
Korea are rubbih...yet they have had 3/1 Pc s against us. Idiots...think I will start laughing at the lunacy...

5m - Korea mistake gives us a PC, as a guy obliges us back by trapping one to his leg. Amit hits it wide. 0-1 still.

Korea is down 2 men now, but India showing no sign of making use of it.

We may get another PC chance, but under referral now.

3min - Gurjinder scores the PC. 1-1!!!!

I have to leave for 15 minutes. Somebody give the commentary.

29m to go - Ramandeep goes in but turns it over, taking the rolling ball.
28m - Our D makes two three stops just outside the circle but keeps clearing it back too KOR. Finally Korea misses one and we take it the other way. Now a TV referral for a PC chance for us. Good work explaining it by Manpreet to the ref. Off a Korean stick to a Korean body. Looks close. Taking a while. Ok, we get it.
27m - Gurjinder is ready, but puts it wide. Actually a great save.
26m - India made an interception and went in with major numbers bbut the keeper makes a great save again. They had changed the keeeper at the half.
25m. We go in and score!!!! Beautiful work. Ramandeep to Satbir at the top of the circle. Nice pass to Mandeep who deflects it in!!. 3-1!!!!

Wow, Mandeep scores a beauty and then Malak seems to have got a 4th for us, but denied...and we appeal?? Come on, just give it to us...please

No, we don't get the verdict, although to me (& my totally unbiased eyes) that was a sure goal.

We are all over Korea, but that idiotic excitability in front of goal is shocking. We could have been 3/4 goals clear with some ''European composure.

After we miss 3/4 clear chances, a rare Korean attack attracts a PC and we concede...damn...we are going to piss this up.
