The Slam titlists
Ramanathan Krishnan was the first Indian to win a Slam title, when he won the Wimbledon boys' (under-18 men's) singles title in 1954, beating Ashley Cooper (who managed to overturn the result in the 1955 final). Since then, several other Indians have emulated him, starting with his son Ramesh (who won both the Wimbledon and French Open junior singles titles in 1979) and Leander Paes (who won the Wimbledon junior singles in 1990 and the US Open junior singles in 1991). Leander, of course, went on to add 8 men's doubles and 6 Mixed Doubles titles to his collection, and he isn't done yet!
Here is a compilation of Slam title winners from India (please add others I may have missed), in order of the number of titles won:
16 - Leander Paes (8 Men's Doubles incl a career Grand Slam, 6 Mixed Doubles, 2 Junior Singles)
12 - Mahesh Bhupathi (4 Men's Doubles, 8 Mixed Doubles incl a career Grand Slam in MxD)
3 - Ramesh Krishnan (2 Junior Singles, 1 Veteran's Doubles)
3 - Sania Mirza (2 Mixed Doubles, 1 Junior Doubles)
1 - Ramanathan Krishnan (1 Junior Singles)
1 - Yuki Bhambri (1 Junior Singles).

Re: The Slam titlists
Also Vijay won the WCT year end title with Dick Stockton in 1978, not the ATP title

Re: The Slam titlists
Yes, it was then called the WCT, but it was basically the year-end championship -- because the WCT ran most of the pro/Open tournaments from 1968 to 1989 (before the WCT was folded into the ATP). The ATP created the computer rankings in 1973, and was like the professional players' union until it formally took over running the tournaments from 1990 onwards. Vijay and Dick Stockton won the year-end doubles title in 1978; it was then called the WCT (World Championship of Tennis), but is now more mundanely called the ATP's year-end championship.

Re: The Slam titlists
Vijay and Anand won Wimbledon men's doubles in 1989. I think Vijay won over 45 titles also.

Re: The Slam titlists
I think you need to update Vijay and Anand's senior invitational doubles also. I certainly remember they won Wimbledon in 1989. If I am not mistaken Vijay won a couple of titles in the mid-90s at US and Australian Opens also.

Re: The Slam titlists
I thought Sanaa won a junior slam doubles also.
Edit: Ignore that. Wikipedia shows that she reached the semis. I must have been dreaming.

Re: The Slam titlists
Sorry, aren't the veteran's events like exhibition events. I would rate them less significant than winning a challenger singles.
