Not Only this week but also the next week at Calabasas where again he would be the top seed, so very arduous 2 week journey to attain 50 points , but in the long run will be very valuable and help him crack the top 200 and remain there.

Prajnesh lost 67(14) 63 46 after a long 2 hours 49 mins battle. So, only 3 points for all that hard work over 3 matches. Therefore, it would have been better for Prajnesh to avoid these futures ( and entered European challengers instead in next 2 weeks). There are too many matches for too few points here and these younger guys are more motivated to win here are they are still moving up rather than those like Prajnesh who are trying to make their way back up the rankings.

Really bizarre decision to play these 2 Futures after that excellent run to a Challenger final in Mexico. I suppose this was his insurance policy, but the premium is too high (and redundant, hence worth cancelling, after the good run in Mexico).

What a waste of 2 weeks -- just as he could have built up more momentum on the Challenger tour.

This week. He is in main draw of 25k event in Nur Sultan followed by a challenger at the same venue.
He will be seeded at both tournaments, I hope he does well. :goodluck:

At the $25K ITF in Noor Sultan,

[R1] (2) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,303) d. (WC) Shin Maxim (UZB,1207) 63 61
so
[R2] (2) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,303) vs Yanki Erel (TUR,492)

So for a $25k tournament like this, if he WINS the title, does he get $25k, or is the total prize money for all players total to $25k?

Prajnesh wins 2 & 4 to move into the QF's where he will face 1108 Georgian Zura Tkemaladze. Nothing less than full 25 points by the end of week should be what he should be aiming for.
If that happens will get him into the 270's and than hopefully 25 to 35 points in next 3 weeks, should get him in 240 to 250 range which just might be sufficient for a USO quali spot, but all this a conjecture on whether he achieves those 50 odd points and where exactly USO quali rankings list close's.

Yes, Prajnesh and fifth seed Sergey Fomin are the only 2 seeds remaining in the draw. So, he should aim at full 25 points.

Rajeev, US open qualifying is not easy for Prajnesh. He has 28 points falling off before 1st August which is the cut off for US open qualies. And the cut off is only 2 weeks after this week. So, Prajnesh will need around 70 points in next 3 weeks to be in top 250 by cut-off date. This futures and the challenger next week in Kazakhstan are the only ones which will count as I do not see him enter anywhere the week after that. He will need a title this week and a final at challenger next week or a title next week and Prajnesh won't even be seeded for next week's challenger. So, not expecting that much from him when he is just returning after close to 3 months injury break.

Thanks Sameer for the clarification on the USO quali entry, so only if he unexpectedly wins next week then only he has a chance, but as you said it will be tough

P.S: Sameer always curious to ask you on this , it's been over 10 years .. why do you always misspell my name. :D
