Re: Indian Badminton Player Rankings
P.V. Sindhu is back in top 10 this week at no.10.
These are the rankings of Indian players in top 50 in world rankings-
Mens singles
•14: Parupalli Kashyap
•24: R.M.V.Gurusaidutt
•26: Ajay Jayaram
•32: K.Srikanth
•34: Anand Pawar
•39: Sai Praneeth
•42: H.S Prannoy
•43: Sourabh Varma
Womens singles
•4: Saina Nehwal
•10: P.V.Sindhu
Mens doubles
•36: Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar
•42: Arun Vishu and Tarun Kona
Womens doubles
•28: Ashwini Ponnappa and Pradnya Gadre
•46: Aparna Balan and Siki Reddy
Mixed doubles
•33: Tarun Kona and Ashwini Ponnappa
•45: Arun Vishnu and Aparna Balan
We are seeing great depth on mens side now with 8 players in top 50 but we need a couple of them to go to top 10 consistently like Saina & Sindhu. Srikanth seems to be the fastest mover upwards.
We need to get something going in doubles. Here, we are worse off then singles unlike tennis.

Re: Indian Badminton Player Rankings
Yes, we need to improve in doubles to improve our performance in team events such as the Thomas/Uber cups.

Re: Indian Badminton Player Rankings
I thought this was conclusively proven to be wrong at present in the Indian Badminton League (or whatever it was called).Atithee wrote:Still, she may indeed be better than Saina.

Re: Indian Badminton Player Rankings
The top levels of individual sports are non-transitive (is that the right word?). A beats B & B beats C doesn't ensure that A is better than C.
Sindhu may continue to get better results against the legion of Wangs than Saina does, while continuing to lose mano-a-mano (or womano-a-womano I suppose).
