Parking the bus is a standard tactic in soccer.

I am excited. If I am not mistaken, this is the first live TV broadcast of anything from India that I would be seeing on U.S. TV, since Mother Theresa's funeral 29 years ago (except for maybe some CNN news report on the Kandahar flight hijacking in 2000 and the Mumbai hotel attack 2008). Before that, all I remember is the Chandigarh Davis Cup against USA. Anyway, at least I don't remember seeing any sports events live from India, since 1994.

8pm IST, India vs USA, under-17 World Cup! The day is here!!
(A bit silly that the match is being played at yet another stadium named after Jawaharlal Nehru, though).

After conceding the goal, they are playing much better and are making some good attacking moves.

It's killing me that I can't watch this. How does the level of play look in general? Did our kids create any meaningful chances or are they mainly defensive?

I thought India was defending well until that penalty which seemed little unfortunate. But USA was the better team. After conceding India started making some attacking moves and did show some skills. But some how I don't see them scoring a goal.

BTW our goalkeeper is quite good. He has made some important saves.

And it ends at.3-0 USA. India could have scored one gold but it hit the cross bar and of the counter attack US scored their 3rd.

0-3 is the worst defeat that any team has suffered in the tournament so far. It seems the hasty preparations haven't quite succeeded in making the under-17 side competitive. Let's hope we manage to tie at least one of the next two matches.
