AITA Fenesta Nationals 2013

Semi final results

Mens singles

(1) Mohit Mayur bt (3) Nitten Kirrtane 61 26 62
Arjun Kadhe bt (4) Chandril Sood 62 61

Womens singles
(1) Shweta Rana bt (5) Sharmada Balu 46 61 61
(2) Prerna Bhambri bt (6) Sai Samhitha 62 61

Boys Singles

Hardeep Singh Sandhu bt Udayan Bhakar 62 62
Mukund Sasikumar bt Dalwinder Singh 62 63

Girls singles

Simran Kaur Sethi bt Karman Kaur 64 36 64
Sai Samhitha bt Teertha Iska 63 60

Couple of interesting finals lined up in mens & womens singles. Mens final is between 2 19 years olds, Mohit & Arjun. A title here would somewhat boost their confidence. Womens final is between 2 established players, Shweta & Prerna.

16 year old Sasi Kumar Mukund looks like one to watch out for. He played a few futures in Egypt & fared reasonablly with 1 main draw win.

From the article on Sania Mirza which I posted in her thread -
She is excited about training because the best of Indian players will train together at her Academy in Hyderabad, and in Chennai.

“Everybody is going to be there…Somdev, Rohan. There will be many trainers. It is a great opportunity,” says Sania, quite pleased that the Indian Tennis Players Association (ITPA) will be doing something concrete.
So, looks like they are organising this off season training for top Indian players.

Good tournament for SK Mukund (Sasikumar is his Dad's name :-)). Doing well in Men's and Boys. Talented youngster.

Thanks for this interesting bit of information. I found the homepage of the academy. It has absolutely no information about the tennis players currently training there. One would have thought that they are the most important people in a tennis academy along with the coaches. No listing of coaches is available either.

Yes, congrats indeed to Hardeep Singh Sandhu and the Harvest Tennis Academy. The facilities seem quite wonderful -- and they are even thinking about sending players to US colleges afterwards!

Suresh, listing of coaches is avaialble in the following section-

Harvest tennis acadamy coaching staff

It has quite a few foreign coaches. No information about players but the newslatters section has some info on it ( though old one). I think it is still mostly juniors who train there. I think I read that one of the senior players who train there is Shweta Rana.

Why can't these guys proof read and maintain a professional looking website? I can offer them free advice and take care of simple typos, font, etc. They invest in a facility, people, and even the web design, but end up with such a sorry state of affairs. If you want people to take you seriously, and spend the kind of money you are asking for, you should do these simple things right. I wonder why Indian websites, while great in design, layout etc., are shoddy in content management and site maintenance.

Can one of the admins please start a new thread for this year's Fenesta Nationals starting from the 6th of this month. The winners of the Men's and Women's Singles will get wildcards to the main draw of the Delhi Challenger next year, while the runners up of Men's and the winners of the U18 event will get qualifying wildcards.

We can keep discussing in the same thread as we did in 2013. I changed the thread name into a more generic one to discuss AITA Fenesta nationals every year.
