Pakistan got thrashed by Netherlands 2-5. Saw last 15-20 mins. & looks like scoreline could have been bigger against Pakistan. Pakistan scored the second goal in the dyeing minutes.

Hope we fare better against Australia.

Pakis gave too much space to NED. NED entering in the paki's D at their will.

IND 0 - 2 AUS Half Time.

First 10 mins there was massacre. Wave of wave of AUS coming up. India was no match physically, no experience at highest level was visible.

AUS deserve to be in final with NED.Right now I can see only NED who can match AUS.

First 10 min of second half going to be same as first.

First 10-15 mins , Australia were overwhelming & we did not know what to do. In the last 15-20 , we seem to be playing on even terms. But, still no clear chances for us.

We seemed to be playing hard, but Australia is just too good. Our release from the defensive end is just too slow for any sort of offense to develop, and the Australians are too skilled in marking us too. Not giving us any space. Akashdeep lost the ball some 3 times - I think he is not used to the kind of skills the Aussies have. The defense doesn't look that terrible in the circle like in the Sandeep days. Generally I don't find us looking clueless and totally overwhelmed, except right at the beginning. But we are clearly being outplayed by a clearly better team. Jay

IND 0 - 3 AUS Final Time.

Out classed by AUS. India has 13 penetration vs 32 by AUS.

32% possession vs 68% by AUS.

3/4 place match IND vs PAK

Important for us to beat Pakistan and finish in a medal spot.

While we were generally beaten by a better team, it seemed we weren't as overwhelmed as we normally are. In fact, if all the 50-50 referee calls don't go against us perhaps we would have got a PC or two and even scored a goal.

However, for us to truly compete with the likes of the Aussies, we need at least another of couple of Sardars together with the rest of the team not having any liabilities. One Sardar and no Sandeeps can get us to the top 5-6 but we need more to get higher than that.

3-0 is what I expected on a good day. On a bad day, we lose by much more than this (like the CWG final). Haven't seen the full match, but from the highlights we seemed lucky to lose by only 3. Both Ragunath (for the PS) & Rupinder (for the 3rd goal) seemed to have gone into 'Sandeep' mode of incompetence. Our only chance seemed to be Danish's wild strike in the 2nd half.

Still, this is progress compared to the CWG final & certainly compared to the cr*p showing in London. Now, can we somehow reverse our habit of losing play off matches?
