I stopped watching when she gave the break back while serving for the match at 5-4. Don’t think she has it in her to win this match anymore. Sad!

Didn’t watch the match but how do you go from serving for the match to losing the next 9 out of 10 games? What an opportunity gone for Ankita. Wonder if it was just nerves or some kind of injury.

It is the WTA. Such scores are common.

True. I was not surprised that it happened. Typically the top-50 players are able to turn things around and win with a strong 3rd set because they have some superlative tools that would start clicking at some point in the match.

I watched the first 2 sets. Ankita was playing really well but Noskova was also making tons of errors which we usually do not see from a top 75 player. They were a lot more in first set but she had reduced those in second set. Once Ankita failed to serve out for the match at 5-4, I pretty much knew that is done. These top 75 players do not give you another chance. And Ankita herself must be dispirited after losing the second set.

This reminded me of her match against similar teen sensation Fruhvirtova in Bangalore W40 final in March. Ankita had won first 8 or 9 game and then she let her opponent back who won a close second set and bagled Ankita in third set.

Ankita will feature in the main draw of the inaugural WTA125 Polish Open at Kozerki starting next week. Hope she gets to continue her good singles form. :goodluck:

Linda Noskova turned it around to eventually grab the title! So it was a good performance overall by Ankita. Hopefully, she can play well this week!

Not quite yet. Linda has to win one more round tomorrow since the second semifinal has been interrupted due to weather.

Ankita and Dayana Yastremska are playing together at the Kozerki WTA125 this week and they started with a win in the opening round.

Ankita awaits the placement of a qualifier to start the singles campaign. :goodluck:

Ankita plays qualifier Gabriela Knutson today. I don’t expect it to be an easy match but hope she wins. :goodluck:

Ankita is down a set to Knutson. Knutson is a 26 year old who had a full college career and then completed 2 masters degrees and so has been on tour only from last year. So, her low ranking is probably deceptive.

At the WTA 125 in Kozerki, POL (Hard)

[R1] Ankita Raina (IND,180) l. (Q) Gabriela Knudsen (CZE,227) 26 36

She just didn't have it today, I guess :(

Ankita and Dayana just beat the top seeds in the doubles QF round 6-1 6-4 at the Kozerki WTA125 event. Ankita will move closer to the #150s with this win.

Ankita and Dayana lost against 4th seeds Naiktha Bains and Mai Lumsden 36 36 in SF at Kozerki WTA125 .

So, that is it for Ankita here. Off to US for USO qualies now.

[See her USO qualifying results (a big Q2 upset!) at the USO thread. Mod, Jay]

Ankita is at the W100 in Tokyo this week.

[R1] Ankita Raina (IND,189) vs (Q) Sofya Lansere (RUS,321), Tuesday

Not sure how/why the opponent got a wildcard in Japan EDIT: I was wrong; she was a qualifier.]... The winner will play 2nd seed Jule Niemeier (GER,91) who won her R1 today.
