Prarthana actually... Typo. But she and Rompies lost the QF in an 5-10 STB against a teenage wildcard pair, R.Gilheany and M.Joint, in a bit of a shocker.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Unbelievable typo! Of course it was Prarthana, who has lost this morning in the QF.
Ankita also lost the first set of her doubles SF 1-6, so it has been a bad morning in Sydney so far...

At Gold Coast W60, Australia (Hard)
[R1] (5) Ankita Raina (IND,201) vs. Talia Gibson (AUS,306)
Tough match for Ankita against a talented 19 year old local player.

Tame first round loss for Ankita.
At Gold Coast W60, Australia (Hard)
[R1] (5) Ankita Raina (IND,201) l. Talia Gibson (AUS,306) 16 26
Have not seen Ankita fold up like that in 2 straight weeks against lower ranked players in long time. Something is really wrong with her.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
^^^ Yes, something is really off with Ankita. Should take a break and take care of whatever is the physical issue. It is clear that it is some physical issue. Shut the season down and work rest/rehab.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
As of now Ankita is still in the entry list of W100 next week in Dubai. Not in the entry list of W25 in Solapur starting from Dec 18. Entry list of W40 in Navi Mumbai starting Dec 25 not yet out.
But,if she is injured she should pull out of all and she should still make it to AO qualies. So, directly play there if you are injured.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Another top Indian player ties the knot. Ankita is married to a certain Milind Sharma. I hope this new chapter brings lots of smiles and success for our top singles player.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Congratulations to Ankita. So, our top 2 singles players fin the last few years have got married within a few days of each other. Karman has tried to snatch India #1 position from Ankita quite a few times without much success but her Karman has beaten Ankita by a few days.
Hope both continue to have hunger to do well on professional circuit post marriage.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Ankita was supposed to play at this week’s W35 event in Thailand and she was in both singles and doubles (w/ Kaylah McPhee) draws only to know that she withdrew after the draws were made, so I assumed she were injured or something. But it seems that she received a qualifying wildcard to play at the Dubai WTA1000 tournament, that starts today.
She’s drawn to play Viktoriya Tomova in the QR1, someone whom she has played (and lost) twice so far. Not expecting a win but I presume even a QR1 loss has a hefty paycheck.
