Re: Sumit Nagal thread
That’s being extremely generous in my opinion. His ranking will take a drastic drop after the clay season the way he’s playing right now. Don’t see him coming anywhere close to achieving the results from last year’s stretch from April thru June. He will be close to 250 I think by early June.

True. I meant on clay. I think he will win some on clay but yes, he is not that competitive on hard courts.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
^^^ That is a bit harsh. Players have come back from worst phases than this and Sumit is only 27 and still has at least 4-5 years good tennis left in him barring major injuries.
Next he is playing Marrakech ATP 250 qualies over the weekend.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
^^ Very true, we over react sometimes and it's fine as we expect him to do well. For tennis player there is always an another tournament and one bad loss and even string of bad losses won't change in bigger picture, if one can stay injury free and stay fit, can always come back once you know you have got the game style.sameerph wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 3:50 am ^^^ That is a bit harsh. It's not matter of one good tournament and one good run that changes everything.. the self belief will be back and everything starts to work again... Just hope it's sooner for Nagal and rankings don't slip too much that entry to tournaments becomes difficult.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Never. After things don't work in singles and people stagnate at the futures level or so, then he should switch to doubles. Agreed that some people, especially clay courters, do not have that much of a doubles future and some people don't like doubles. But, if you like tennis, keep playing wherever you can get an entry in.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Sumit gets an unranked Moroccan WC in Q1 of ATP 250 Marrakech. Should he win, he likely gets the qualies top seed #120 Majrchak from Poland.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Sumit won 62 62 against unranked Moroccan.
Up against 120th ranked Kamil Majrchak from Poland in Q2. Sumit is 1-1 head to head against Kamil. If he was in last year's clay form, I would have favoured Sumit but now with his current form.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Sumit lost 57 16 against 120th ranked Kamil Majrchak from Poland in Q2 ATP 250 Marrakech. I saw the first set and Sumit was playing better than earlier weeks, got back from 1-4 to 4-4. But, Sumit was playing a few weak bachkands every now and than and Kamil was punishing that. Also, Kamil was hardly missing anything. In the second set, Kamil seems to have run away with it.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
He was playing better than the past few weeks. And after that, he was mentally frustrated with the misses. I think he needs to focus mentally!! And I think Sumit doesn't have a chance to play Monte-Carlo unless and until they give him a WC which is unlikely. Needs 2 withdrawals so that he can get LLsameerph wrote: Mon Mar 31, 2025 3:03 pm Sumit lost 57 16 against 120th ranked Kamil Majrchak from Poland in Q2 ATP 250 Marrakech.
