Another title and an 8-match win streak for the pair!

At the W75 in Fukuoka (Outdoor Carpet),

[F] Rutuja Bhosale (IND)/ Paige Hourigan (NZL) d. (4) Haruna Arakawa (JPN)/ Aoi Ito (JPN), 36 63 (10-6)

The title will take Rutuja back inside the top-200 again, at around #195... She had one up to #180 once before, but this has been a good run and she has found a good partner in Hourigan.

Congrats to Rutuja, who is now our #2 doubles. She has lost a few rungs in singles however and is ranked under Karman, sitting at #4. Time to step up and lead the Indian contingents once Ankita stops playing singles.

Rutuja will stay in Japan for another week to play at the W75 (carpet) event where she has made the main draw in Singles and entered with Paige Hourigan again in Doubles.

Rutuja SHOULD NOT play next week. This is a 6th week in a row (inclduing Billie Jean Cup), and she has played a lot of matches. She is asking for injury trouble. It is not even one year since she overdid it once over a 10 day stretch with 11 matches and came down with injury issues in Tunisia (which took her out of circuit for a while and she took a long time to get back to form).

She has played 24 matches in the last 32 days (11 singles and 13 doubles) with 5 travel days added too. India to Changsha to Shenzen to Wuxi to Kofu to Fukuoka to Kurume, lugging rackets and other bags through airports, buses, immigration and between hotels.

That is way too long without a 5-day type rest for the body. I was worried the last 2-3 days already. I am extremely concerned about how dangerous it is to play next week.

I know it will be tough to say no to Hourigan, but she need to take a break. Please don't do this, Rutuja.

^^ I will be surprised only if tiredness has NOT set in. Too much of playing and traveling non-stop. I am actually glad that she lost in doubles. If she manages to win in singles, at least she only has to play one match a day.

That is a really good dominating win by Rutuja over a much higher ranked player.

She seems to be giving it her all in singles after losing early in doubles.

[QF] Rutuja Bhosale (IND,388) l. (2) Arina Rodionova (AUS,108), 16 76(5) 14 RET.

Rutuja was up 4-2 in the second, got broken twice and faced an MP on Arina's serve at 4-5 but then went on a tear breaking her to send it to a tiebreaker. After winning the TB, she lost her edge again, and she retired at 1-4 ...

Hopefully not any kind of injury. This is what I was worried about for 2 weeks. At least she got some much needed points this week. She needs to get healthy again.

After a 4-week break, Rutuja got back to singles today. Hopefully she is healthy again (after cavalierly playing the Kurume event, which I was pleading with her not to do, and retiring in the 3rd match there).

She lost in the R1 at the ITF W75 in Guimaraes, POR (Hard) today, 26 67(5) to 4th seed Gabriela Knutson (CZE,212)... I am glad she played very competitively, at least in the second set. A good sign that the 4 week break helped in whatever was the physical issue from Kurume...

Actually she was in the doubles draw, partnering Ankita, at the ITF W50 in Montemor-O-Nava in Portugal last week and they gave an R1 walkover, so I was wondering if something was still wrong. I assume not.

Rutuja is playing doubles with Sofya Lansere (RUS). They won the R1 yesterday over a Portuguese pair, Sana Garakani and Sara Lanca, 60 63... The QF is against 4th seeds Ankita and Prarthana, next!

Last week Rutuja with her partner beat Ankita and Prarthana in QF but lost in the doubles semi finals.

This week she is playing in Spain and starts with a nice upset win.

At W35(+H) Tauste, ESP (Hard)

[R1] Rutuja Bhosale (IND,496) d. (8) Anastasia Gureva (RUS,370) 64 64

After her last year's Tunisia title points fell off, Rutuja had a big fall in the ranking to near and will need to work hard to bring it up back again. Good start for that.

[R2] Rutuja Bhosale (IND,496) vs. Maria Martinez Vaquero (ESP,1247)

At the ITF W35(+H) at Tauste, ESP (Hard)

[QF] Rutuja Bhosale (IND,496) l. Fangran Tian (CHN,480), 26 26

I didn't expect her to lose that badly to a 20 year old :(
