Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
Before people come in and whine about Rutuja after her match (prediction: straight set loss), let me remind everyone that Q Wang was a former top-20 WTA player who’s returning after a break.

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
^^ Absolutely. Qiang Wang was as high as #12. Rutuja just lost the match, but in my opinion, must have played quite well against Qiang. She won 49 points against 66 by Wang, which is not a terribly one-sided loss like I expected as a possibility.
[R2] Rutuja Bhosale (IND,364) l. (WC) Qiang Wang (CHN,827), 26 46

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
^^^Q Wang is 32 years old and coming back after a 15 month absence. Chances are that she may not be playing much better than top 200 or 150 level right now. Still a difficult match for Rutuja.

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
Quiang Wang who beat Rutuja in the second round has gone on to reach the final.
In the meantime, Rutuja along with New Zelandar Paige Hourigam won the doubles title beating third seeded Taiwanese pair in the final. Looks like her first doubles title of the year.
Rutuja is listed in singles qualifying in W100 in Gifu, Japan next week. But, lets see if she is now able to travel from Wunning, China to there and play qualies tomorrow.

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
Just saw that W100 Gufu, Japan qualifying starts only on Monday. So, Rutuja should be able to make it there safely.
Btw, in live rankings, Rutuja moves ahead of Ankita as India #2 in doubles - Rutuja at #225 and Ankita at #235. Prarthana is India #1 at #150.

[Q2] (8) Rutuja Bhosale (IND,364) l. (13) Thasaporn Naklo (THA,397), 64 46 26
This was a bad loss, even money-wise, this being a W100 event.
EDIT: In doubles, she played with Sarah Beth Grey (GBR). They beat Natsumi Kawaguchi (JPN)/ Sohyun Park (KOR), 57 60 [10-6] but lost the QF to Madeleine Brooks (GBR)/ Eudice Chong (HKG), 62 16 [7-10]... I assume Paige Hourigan's ranking (now below 350, but once as high as #134) was not high enough to get entry. Otherwise, continuing the partnership with her would have been better, as they won the title last week.

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
At the W75 in Fukuoka, Japan (Outdoor Carpet)
[R1] Rutuja Bhosale (IND,388) vs (SR) Zarina Diyas (KAZ,NR), Wednesday
[R1] Rutuja Bhosale (IND)/ Paige Hourigan (NZL) d. Mananchaya Sawangkaew (THA)/ Eri Shimizu (JPN), 64 63
Zarina has not played for almost two years, and is using her Special Ranking (injury or childbirth) to play again. She was of course a top-100 player for 8 years till 2021, with a career high of #30. No idea in what form she is, to say how Rutuja will do against her.

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
Forget Zarina’s form, it would be hard to play in Fukuoka given that it was too gusty during the doubles match (and this surface is still probably unfamiliar for Rutuja). I do however think Rutuja will win

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
Surprise or not, it was embarrassing. I mean, really, whoever it is, you have to find a way to beat a player who has not played competitively in 23 months. You just have to. I will join Dinesh in this....

So they are back together and it is 6 wins in a row for the pair. They had won the W50 Wuning two weeks ago when they played together last.
