Mahesh Bhupathi-Rohan Bopanna (pair) thread

Post by jaydeep »

Decided to start this thread as next year they r going to participate in all tournaments as a pair in first-half of 2012 (may be for all season).

They declared their desire to play and win Olympic medal at London.

New combine Bhupathi and Bopanna target Olympic medal
Mahesh - "Rohan and I are playing together with the sole aim of representing India at the Olympics, but that's still a long way away, we have to win a lot of matches, work together as a team and build a great partnership and if we do that hopefully we'll be in London and do well there too."

"We have had some very good results in the Davis Cup, we know how to play the game, use each other's strengths, polish off the weaknesses and adapt to situations. Hopefully we will pull it off well."

However, when asked about the difference between Paes and Bopanna, Bhupathi's answer lacked the typical punch that his returns possess.

"I have played with a lot of partners in the last 17 years, but as far as Rohan is concerned, he has got a huge game, we practise every year, have known each other for long and most importantly I know my role in the team - my role is to feed him opportunities."

Rohan - "We will be playing 12 tournaments apart from three Grand Slams before the Olympics and the only event at home we are playing is in Chennai, we've got great support in the past years and starting the year there will be quite interesting."

1/2 of Indian Express + 1/2 of Mysore Pak = Mysore Express? Aren't they both from that region, anyway? And they're both express trains when it comes to power. If you're a blues fan, may be "BB Kings" resonates.

As a blues fan, BB Kings resonates! They maybe Express power wise, but local on foot speed! I actually stared at the ceiling last night and failed to come up with anything close to BB Kings. The best I could come up with was Brindhavan Express - a train I rode in my college days and it had some giddy-up. I wonder if it is still around.

I like "Brindavan Express" the best among the suggestions so far!

Did some one suggest "Indian Express 2" earlier? That might catch on more easily in tennis circles outside of us Indian tennis fans. Not creative, though. Still, I have a feeling "Indian Express 2" is what it will end up being in the tennis news world.

This whole soap opera could be called "Times of India", if we really want to go the route of using newspaper names to name teams and events.

Hmmm.... Hot South, huh? May be they're the "Masala Deuce" playing a spicy brand of tennis and making chutney of their opposition! "Sambar Tennis" anyone?

That would be watery and weak. :D Do like BB Kings, Bangalore Express, or the Ace MaRo among the others.
