Good to see Vijayant live up to his seeding in a Futures outside India, which has become all too rare among Indian players in recent times.

Re: Vijayant Malik thread
Congratulations to 22 year old Vijayant Malik for winning his first futures title today when he won the $10K title at Binh Doung, Vietnam. Vijayant had so far made 4 futures finals ( 3 India & 1 in Nigeria since 2011) but the title had eluded him thus far. He finally took it this week in what was clealy one of the toughest $10k futures in Asia .
These are his results from this week.
At $10K Vietnam F5 futures, Binh Doung
[R1] (6) Vijayant Malik (IND,477) d. (Q) Nuttanon Kadchapanan (THA,1878) 63 57 60
[R2] (6) Vijayant Malik (IND,477) d. (WC) Minh-Quan Do (VIE,1290) 6-1 6-3
[QF] (6) Vijayant Malik (IND,477) d. (1) Jose STATHAM (NZL,325) 4-6 6-4 6-3
[SF] (6) Vijayant MALIK (477) d. (3) Liang-Chi HUANG (TPE,399) 6-3 3-6 6-3
[F] (6) Vijayant MALIK (477) d. Junn Mitsusashi (JPN,658) 75 62
Those 2 wins in the QF & SF were quite superb & set him up for the title. He was too good in the final. With 18 points from this title, he will move him up around 425 in the singles rankings. I am sure he keeps playing the way he played this week he will be on the way to top 300 soon.

Re: Vijayant Malik thread
Stupendous show from him this week. That first Futures title was well-deserved, having been earned outside India in a very strong field.

Congratulations to Vijayant on winning a 10K futures abroad featuring a tougher than normal field for this level. It is time to move on and start doing well in the 15K futures as well as lower-level challenger events.
