Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Our players are off their peaks. Not much to expect from peope can't do well on challengers. I don't blame them much. It's tough to be in their shoes.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
RamK has fallen outside top 200 now with his last year's challenger final points falling off and has a tough match first up this week.
At Bratislava Challenger. Slovakia
[R1] Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,215) vs. (5) Alex Molcan (SVK,106)
23 year old Molcan is at his career high ranking and has had a challenger title, ATP tour final and a US open R3 this year.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Yes played a better 2nd set but overall looked slow and not match sharp which is not surprising considering he has played non stop for 6 months.
But still 2 more weeks of hard court Challenger's and then later on to clay Challengers in Turkey and Portugal, and will play till the very end of the season, while Prajnesh will call timeout for the season after the Bahrain Challenger.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Congratulations to Ramkumar Ramanathan for winning his first Challenger singles at the Manama (Bahrain) Challenger, winning the final 61 64.
Antalya, his next stop, is the venue for his greatest triumph -- over Dominic Thiem, the 2020 US Open champion. Of course, that was on Ram's favourite surface, grass, and next week's Challenger is on his least-favoured surface, clay. With his backhand now functioning well (with 2-fisted top-spin shots dominating, and the slices much rarer), Ramkumar looks in great form, and could do well even on clay. Jet lag may be a factor in the upcoming tournament though.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
RamK .... Monkeys are always tough to get off your back, especially the longer they sit there. But once you get rid of them, they get scared and may stay away for a while, too. Time to go on a 3 or 4 challenger title-match winning streak now!! The averages need to work right, ultimately.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
I think he will be fine. Antalya is in the same time zone as Bahrain and it’s only a 3 hour flight. If he gets a Wednesday start he will be ok.PKBasu wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 5:36 pm Congratulations to Ramkumar Ramanathan for winning his first Challenger singles at the Manama (Bahrain) Challenger, winning the final 61 64.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Yes he will start for Turkey today and reach Antalya tonight , with a days rest tomorrow , Wednesday should be ready to play.
But these matches on clay can be tricky , even though he is amongst the higher seed , but there the low ranking opponents some of them are real grinders on clay like his potential R2 Spanish opponent, so no match will be a gimme.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Unfortunately RamK didn’t receive a Wednesday start and is now included for tomorrow’s schedule. He plays against Louis Wessels, the #381 ranked qualifier from Germany. He plays the final match on Centre Court. Match won’t start before 3pm local time.
