More or less fair groupings. India's group is slightly weaker considering this will be played on the sub-continent. If we swap Sri Lanka and a minnow with West Indies+Bangladesh, it would be more balanced. I am not complaining.

The big groups rule out the possibility of a repeat of 2007 (with India and Pakistan knocked out in the first round), ie, they reduce the likelihood of one freak result knocking out one of the better teams. In 1983, for instance, there were two big groups like this -- with each team playing the other teams in the group twice (so we lost once each to Australia and Windies, but won once each against them, and went through to the SF after Zim beat Aus).

Yeah, I like this bigger group instead of earlier format. I guess the assumption in the earlier format was that minnows would never be able to beat the big guys. We found out that it was not true. Some odd results are always possible in team sports.

What a stupid decision to have big groups. Meaningless group matches here we come. ICC should change it's name to $££. If anything they should have learnt from the recent Champions Trophy. This will be the last 50 over World Cup.

Hi Guys,
This is Stephen, It’s a very stupid schedule in world cup 2011 by ICC. Why loser teams in B group with India Team? When Indian team is very strong, also A group’s every team has very Strong. So why a big difference in A Group and B Group?

India will win the World Cup in 2011, with Sachin Tendulkar crowning his career by finally lifting the trophy after the final in Mumbai...

Remember we had a lot of missing players in the recent ICC events (Yuvi, Viru, briefly Gambhir, Zaheer). Presumably we will have a full team for the World Cup.

Re: cricket world cup 2011
Hi tom25, I am ready to do so. However, as you know this information is worth a lot --- probably lakhs or could be even crores of rupees. Because I have to make some money and feed my quite large and very hungry family, I can tell you who will win but for a small fee to cover my administrative costs incurred to rotate my crystal ball and pay for my repetitive-stress-injury insurance. Please send me a money order for Rs. 50,000 and I will gladly send you the information. My address is available off the web, but, I could also PM you that if you PM me first (for a small convenience fee of Rs. 5, quite a deal, isn't it?). Thank you for your interest in my crystal ball. I could also sell you a personal one if you so desire.tom25 wrote:hello guys, please let me know who will win this time cricket world cup.

I did give it Jay, the f*#$ing mods took them out. If you disfigure out a way how we can beat these bl**dy mods, then let me know via PM. Little do they know that even though they took that URL out, the link remains in their query log, which is published on the web, and so my purpose of link-spamming the forum was served
