Good 5 under par 3rd round by Anirban. His second consecutive round in 60s has moved him into top 10. However, the leader is 5 strokes away from him , making it tough to get in contention. Himmat Rai was one overpar today and lost some ground on the leaderboard. Rahil Gangjee repeated his 2nd round with another 1 under 70. Muniyappa didn't repeat his heroics in 3rd round that he had been showing in the last two tournaments. Infact he had his worst round today. I think upto top 15 get some world ranking points. It would be good to get some ranking points.

8 Anirban LAHIRI (IND) 71 68 66 205 -8
17 Himmat RAI (IND) 71 66 72 209 -4
27 Rahil GANGJEE (IND) 72 70 70 212 -1
54 C. MUNIYAPPA (IND) 72 70 75 217 +4

Well I was wrong! Anirban is in contention. Gurrently, after playing 11 holes at 3 under, Lahiri is T3 and 3 strokes behind another youngster Chinnarat PHADUNGSIL.
The current leaderboard at the top is

1 -14 Chinnarat PHADUNGSIL [Thailand] -2 9
2 -12 Yoshinobu TSUKADA [Japan] +1 9
3 -11 Kiradech APHIBARNRAT [Thailand] -5 12
-11 Anirban LAHIRI [India] -3 11
-11 KIM Dae-Hyun [South Korea] -1 11
-11 Udorn DUANGDECHA [Thailand] -2 11
Go Lahiri!

Unfortunately, Himmat Rai after playing some great golf that included 4 birdies in a row has hit a bad patch with 3 bogeys in 4 holes and after moving into top 10 he is now T19.
update Kiradech is having a great round as he scored 6th birdie of the day (1 bogey) to catch yesterday's leader Yoshinobu at 2nd spot, and pushing Lahiri and other to 4 spot. Lahiri pars the 12th and 13th. Himmat birdies the 16th to move to T15

1 -14 Chinnarat PHADUNGSIL [Thailand] -2 11
2 -12 Yoshinobu TSUKADA [Japan] +1 11
-12 Kiradech APHIBARNRAT [Thailand] -4 13
4 -11 Anirban LAHIRI [India] -3 13
-11 KIM Dae-Hyun [South Korea] -1 12
-11 Udorn DUANGDECHA [Thailand] -2 12

update
A double bogey by Lahiri :( effectively ends his chances, even after a bogey by the leader Chinnarat. Lahiri(-10) is now 4 strokes behind the leader with 4 holes left and currently T8. Earlier Rahil finished T54 after an 8 over round. Muniyappa had a 2 under par round that has put him currently at T35.
update
Himmat finished with a birdie :) that moved him to T12. He is likely to remain in top 15 at the end of the day. Lahiri also birdies the 16th to move to tied 6th spot.

Once again Gaganjeet is making waves as he has climbed to 2nd spot :) after 16 holes in the final round. His -9 overall score puts him 3 clear of the 3rd place. But he is not in contention as the leader Thaworn WIRATCHANT(-16) with 4 holes to go has gone too far ahead and out of reach of anyone.

After the disappointment of missing the cut in the jointly hosted Europe event, Bhullar has made a strong comeback in the following tournement here in Macau Open. He has once again proven that he is a "real deal" in Indian golf.

The other Indians who made the cut include Digvijay Singh(+3) currently T43, and C. MUNIYAPPA(+6) currently T56.

Final Scores
1 Thaworn WIRATCHANT 67 68 66 68 -15 (269)
2 Gaganjeet BHULLAR 71 69 69 66 -9 (275)
T43 C. MUNIYAPPA 74 68 71 77 6 (290)
T56 Digvijay SINGH 74 70 70 73 3 (287)*

The following players missed the cut that was applied at +2

T68 Vikrant CHOPRA 73 72 3 (145)*
T79 Rahil GANGJEE 72 74 4 (146)*
T92 Anirban LAHIRI 77 71 6 (148)
T112 Himmat RAI 77 75 10 (152)

This week Asian and Japan tour are co-hosting a big money tournament (around $1.5 million) that has participation from 5 Indians: Jyoti Randhawa, Gaganjeet Bhullar, Shiv Kapur, Gaurav Ghei, Digvijay Singh. Jyoti and Gaganjeet had a decent outing to get into safe zone with respect to cut. Digvijay is right in the middle and must be careful tomorrow to make the cut. Shiv and Gaurav have put themselves in a hole and they'll need a super round to get out it.

The Indian score card is as follows:

T28 Gaganjeet BHULLAR (IND) 71 E
T44 Jyoti RANDHAWA (IND) 72 +1
T71 Digvijay SINGH (IND) 74 +3
103 Shiv KAPUR (IND) 76 +5
127 Gaurav GHEI (IND) 81 +10

There are two leaders at -5. Hopefully we'll have better day tomorrow and more Indians will stick out for the weekend play. :goodluck:

Good to see young Gaganjeet Bhullar sustain his scorching form on the APGA tour this year, including a couple of recent runner-up finishes in Brunei and Macau (although it would be even better if he had won those...!).

Jyoti and Bhullar continued to do well as they made it to top 20 halfway with under par scores today. But our other players could not follow them as they missed the cut. Considering short span of Bhullar's career, this is a big tournament for him, and if he can make it to top 10, it will be another achievement for him. Jyoti would also welcome a return to decent form. He has been having some tough time recently. They have now had two good rounds so far, but they are still missing one great round to get close to leaders. :goodluck:

Leader (-7)
11 Jyoti RANDHAWA 72 68 140 -2
20 Gaganjeet BHULLAR 71 70 141 -1
************* CUT +4 *****************
96 Shiv KAPUR 76 74 150 +8
118 Digvijay SINGH 74 81 155 +13
123 Gaurav GHEI 81 77 158 +16

The weekend was not a great one for our players. Jyoti could not do any special to improve his position and ultimately finished T16, missing the top 10 just by 1 stroke. But Bhullar dropeed down all the way to T51. Bhullar was done away by the wayward 8 over par 3rd round 79. The last day was a high scoring day and the scores of 76 and 74 by the two players were not too bad.

16 Jyoti RANDHAWA (IND) 72 68 70 76 286 +2 $16,422.77
51 Gaganjeet BHULLAR (IND) 71 70 79 74 294 +10 $7,370.22

Not a good start for Indians except Muniyappa, who was the one Indian to go under par. Hopefully, he'll continue to maintain this standard for the remaining 3 rounds.

IIRC Gaurav Ghei has won this tournament earlier. Sad to see him so down. They need to play a better 2nd round. Seems like the course is little tough for these players as the cut would be way over par. I guess even if Gaurav plays a par 2nd round, he can make the cut.

The scores for the our players are:

T7 C. MUNIYAPPA (IND) 70 70 -2
T55 Himmat RAI (IND) 75 75 +3
T81 Anirban LAHIRI (IND) 77 77 +5
T81 Rahil GANGJEE (IND) 77 77 +5
T91 Gaurav GHEI (IND) 78 78 +6

The leader is at -7 and only 18 players could break par.

Only Himmat Rai played a descent par round to ensure that he makes the cut. Muniyappa lost ground but thanks to his excellent first round he also made the cut. Both are +3 and T35 after 2nd round, way behind the leader at -10. However, they are need to cover 4 strokes to make the top 10. I hope that should be their target.

Leader (-10)
2 (-8)
T3 (-7)
5 (-3
T6 (-2)
T10 (-1)
T15(E)
T20(+1)
T25(+2)
35 C. MUNIYAPPA (IND) 70 77 147 +3
35 Himmat RAI (IND) 75 72 147 +3
*************CUT (+5) ******************
77 Gaurav GHEI (IND) 78 74 152 +8

Himmar Rai finished tied 26th when he carded his 3rd 75 of the tournament. However, Muniyappa had his worst round of 78 and finished T38.

26 Himmat RAI (IND) 75 72 75 75 297 +9 $4,400.00
38 C. MUNIYAPPA (IND) 70 77 74 78 299 +11 $3,408.33

The tournament was played in tough conditions and only 4 players were under par in the end.

The Asian tour now moves to India. It will be a big money tournament, the richest full-field event on the Asian Tour with prize money of US$1.25 million.

The first round was suspended due to darkness as lot of time was lost during the day. Himmat Rai jointly leads the field at -5. Himmat has played a superb back 9 while he is yet to play the front nine. There are 17 Indians in the field. Great job by Himmat! :bounce:
He is really showing Himmat so far to ward off the threats from some established stars such as Korean KJ Choi and Retief Goosen.
Himmat is clubhouse leader as the second round is far from over. But it seems unlikely that any one will pass him in 2nd round.

The tournament has been reduced to 54 holes. So he need to play one more good excellent round. There are quite a few players right at his heel and he'll need to be very competitive in the 3rd (and last) round. :goodluck:
