That's a stupendous bit of news for Purav. To get a crack at a major with someone like Karlovic is worthy reward for the months and years of hard work that Purav has put in. Go Purav!

Potentially a very strong pairing. If they do well at the AO, it will hopefully mean a longer-lasting partnership.

Purav has fallen outside top 100 being ranked 103 in the latest doubles rankings. He has another 29 points falling off this week and 150 falling off in the first week of Feb. from the Zagreb ATP final run last year. So, he desperately needs to earn some points to stay at his current ranking and move back inside top 100.

Good chance to do so this week playing with Mahesh and then at AO with Karlovic.

Purav is playing with Rajeev Ram at Ecuador open ... They r second seed but facing tricky first round match against clay court specialists on red clay.

It looks like Purav is using his friendship earned thru his coaching in IPTL and thru other means to get into these ATP events. But, he needs to capitalise and win some matches. Else, his ranking will fall further and he will have to go back to challenger tour.

Btw, Rajeev Ram won his first career match on clay in this tournament in first round beating Horacio Zeballos in straight sets.

This week Purav is playing with Roelofse in Dominican Republic challenger.
