Ifuare a mumbai indian fan,u hope that Rohit gets out with in couple of overs. Giving Dhoni a swansong makes for better ratings .

It is kind of interesting how a player dominates one season out of blue, like Dinesh Karthik, Rahane where they seem to reinvent the game and then revert tomedian next year. Will be curious to see if Rahane maintains this next year.

Indian T20 line up
Jaiswal
Gill
Kohli
Sky
Tilak
Sanju Samson or jiteshsharma
Hardik has to bowl otherwise difficult to justify
Axarpatel or Jadeja (needs to bowl 4 overs as his batting is medicre fir t20). Axar patel bowling not as effective this year
Shami
Siraj
Bishnoi

Gaikwad
Deepak chahar
Arshdeep singh

I think Prabhsimran performed better than Sanju or Jitesh. You don't like him? Or is it that you think that someone batting up the order cannot replicate things while batting down?

Also, you need six bowlers. Based on this IPL alone, Hardik does not deserve a chance.

Every countries has their own popular T20 leagues but never seen their media and fans giving massive hype to their international players. Its good to say good things about new talents and their efforts in facing international stars. Gill & Kohli has broken the media through their IPL performance in another way they are successfull in receiving kindness in upcomming failures against Aussies in WTC final.

I agree that it is difficult to justify Hardik position. He has started playing more of an anchor role. He still probably gets nod as seaming all rounder and captain over other choices. We could replace Tilak or Kohli(more optimal) with Hardik and then bring in Deepak Chahar? We need one of our top order bat to bowl like Maxwell.

Gill
jaiswal
Kohli or Tilak
Sky
Hardik
Sanju (30/153)or Jitesh(23/156) (Singh is 25/150. First season where he has shined, so would probably hold off until he becomes more consistent)
Jadeja Or Axar (axar is better bat, Jadeja probably gets bowling advantage)
Deepak Chahar
Ravi Bishnoi
Shami or Arshdeep(if u want leftie)
Siraj

Gaikwad

Missed out on Rinku Singh as well.one of the top order guys have to start bowling to probably make the team

Half bowler, Half batters - Deepak Chahar, Shardul, Harshal all are tested and are failures. I would like to see Raj Bawa, Atit Seth, Aman Hakim Khan, Prerak Mankad, Arsad Khan in grooming pace bowling allrounder categories

Here is the impact based top 11 using only this year's performances:

Gill, Yashasvi, Siraj, Axar, Shami, Jadeja, SkAY, Gaikwad, Chawla, Kohli, NTTV

We will have to drop Kohli to get NTTV in and ask him to bowl more. Best batting keeper has been Prabhsimran.

Gill, Yashasvi, Gaikwad, SkAY, NTTV, Prabhsimran, Jadeja, Axar, Chawla, Siraj, Shami

If the pitch demands another pacer who can bat, it will be DLC. I would have loved to see what Hangar can do, but he unfortunately was given only two games. I do not mind trying the other youngsters in the domestics or A-teams and then seeing if they can cut it.

This is a 3 spinner team. If you want an impact substitute: Kohli for Siraj. Great fielder and batter - two areas where Siraj is awful.

Suyash Sharma should also be there. He has mystery factor and has the capability to be better then Chahal & B.S. Chandrasekhar. Superstar factor has always made Indian team unachieved from ICC laurels. Among spinners, overrated politician Bishan Bedi along with Pataudi Ali Khan destroyed career of Padmakar Shivalkar, Rajinder Goel.

The ESPN impact players stats for batting is skewed towards the openers. There are seven openers un top 10. Singh is the 9th best opener. Would he have the same impact in-middle order that he had at top order?

Both Jitesh and Singh played for punjab, but it appears that Jitesh payed primarily as WK, while singh was bought in as WK. As a opener. Also, as u pointed out in prior post there is a big difference between opening and finishing . I see Jitesh or Sanju Sampson more suited in that role as they have that experience.

Deepak Chahar is a failure? Is it based on eye test or averages? He has been injury prone and that is a concern , but he is hands down the best seaming bowling allrounder

His stats in very limited T20I appearance is bowling average 24 and ER 8.17 . Batting average skewed by very limited opportunities and is 53 and sr 200+ (his runs and average is same)

Shardul is bowling 23, ER 9.15 : batting average is 23, sr 180

Harshal is bowling 26, Er 9.18, batting 12 and 135

Chahar bowls primarily in power play, so his ER is lower

Tell something about Chahar's bowling in important overs towards end of the innings. He has been one of the horrible and even MSD finishes his 4 over qouta before 16 overs in a T20 game, neither his batting looks so much promising, he is just once in a blue moon performer. In recent tour of Bangadesh, he got full opportunity with bat & ball but have failed. Team doesn'nt needs such a talent who gives half services and if he is picked, in the presence of dew he will be completely venomless as he does'nt have that pace to trouble batters in the presence of dew

Are we talking about the recent odi series where chahar got 2 matches and scored just 11 runs in two innings including a duck. So one performance where he took india to victory withunbeated 69 runs is a fluke, but mediocre batting in two ODI innings is enough to chuck him out (the match in which top order bat failed miserably as well).

I already said he bowls primarily in power playin T20. Ability to bowl in power plays is important. He has played just 24 T20I games and
13 ODI and his stats are pretty reasonable. His batting ability should give him a legup over any other player.

But, but Kumar, you are objecting to cherrypicking. If we do not cherrypick, how can we say crap bowlers are good and good bowlers are bad? We need to be able to pick one innings or better still one over or better still one ball to make our point. Looking at overall records is not acceptable. We need to be able to pick one series and on the basis of that we need to be able to chuck a player out or ask for another to come in. If we cannot do that, we cannot just pick based on nepotism, we have to pick based on evidence, which we know is bad and overrated.

Only if we are allowed to pick one series and decide based on that or two series say, then we can do whatever we want. And, we want to be able to pick whoever we want and based on any arbitrary criterion. Please do not talk about looking at the overall record. Or even the last 15 innings, etc. That makes it difficult to chuck out good players we do not like. Please. This is an internet bulletin board. If people cannot pick high school failures in the national team here, where can anyone?

Now that the IPL is finally over, using the impact/match with a qualifying of 7-8 matches below which the stat does not stabilize, here are the impact players:

Gill, Yashasvi, Siraj, Axar, RJ, Shami, SkAY, Piyush, Rutu, Kohli, NTTV, Varun

Obviously, as Kumar pointed out, this is skewed towards openers, etc. because, of course, they always get a full 20 overs to bat and can have more impact.

So, we choose Gill, Yashasvi, Gaikwad. Then, SkAY and NTTV as middle-order bats with NTTV bowling if needed.

Spinners: Axar, RJ, and Piyush

Pacers: Shami, Siraj

Keeper: Prabhsimaran, Ishan, Sanju - Prabhsimran and Ishan batting up the order. If you need a pure middle-order batter that would be Samson. Sanju has failed in the international T20Is (20@133) and done very well in ODIs. Kishan has been 25@123, much slower. Both got many chances in T20Is, Kishan many more. I want to see what Prabhsimran can do. If Prabhsimran cannot do it, then try Jiten.

After Siraj, Shami, the best pacer was Madhval. He should be tried in A-teams or in teams against minnows first and then onwards.

If we want someone who can bat a bit, we are in a bit of a trouble. The next best is Bhuvi.

If you want a stronger bat than Bhuvi, then we need to go to DLC. DLC provides a bit of batting and as an opener wrt bowling. Siraj/Shami are the end-over bowlers.

Mumbai Indians appoint Hardik Pandya as captain replacing Rohit Sharma. This has created a lot of news in cricket circles with criticism of the decision by many. Is this an indication of change in captainship of Indian team too for T20 world cup ?
