Kumar, you are right that in theory Romero has a chance to overtake Jeev in the first round as Romero has yet to play last two holes. But it would be a difficult task as 18th hole is IMO a difficult hole.

Jeev ended the first round tied for lead... I am guessing this is the first time, that Indian is at top of the leaderboard (after any round) in a major... You go jeev...
Jyoti finished first round at +7. An 'E' par round can see him make the cut
VJ started off the second round with a bogey, but have two birdies and is currently at +5.
Update: Jyoti bogeyed his second hole (+8) and VJ bogeyed the 15th hole (+6)

Re: 2008 - PGA Majors/ WGC/ World Cup
I also think that the cut may be at around +7. It will be tough for both Vijay and Jyoti as they don't have any cushion, but I hope they'll make it.
Jeev will be aming for a par round today, which would be good enough to keep him in contention. Go Jeev!
Update: Vijay makes 2nd consecutive bogey to go to +8 for the tournmanet and +2 for the day after 9 holes.
True. Last year Jeev led at Master for some portion of the first round but in the end he finished the day in top 10. But this time he leads.I am guessing this is the first time, that Indian is at top of the leaderboard (after any round) in a major

Re: 2008 - PGA Majors/ WGC/ World Cup
both 17 and 18 has killed VJ's chances.. the way green played yesterday (too many breaks and fast), I don't see him making 4-8 feet putts with any sort of consistency.
The golf course is playing little easy today and VJ will need to be +6 or +7 to make the cut.

Re: 2008 - PGA Majors/ WGC/ World Cup
Jyoti is on 18th hole - the toughest hole of the course. A par here is as good as a birdie on this hole. He bogeyed it yesterday, let's see if can make a par. Go Jyoti.
After the turn, Vijay scored a birdie on par 5 2nd hole. So he is +1 for the day (4 bogeys, 3 birdies) and +7 over all. Vijay is currently T90 and Jyoti is T106.
T1 - Jeev Milkha Singh -2 1:00 pm ET* - 68 - - -
T48 Daniel Chopra +4 1:05 pm ET - 74 - - -
T90 - Vijay Singh +7 13* +1 76 - - -
T106 Jyoti Randhawa +8 8* +1 77 - - -
Update: Jyoti successfully negotiates 18th. Nice job there. Now he needs to get one birdie soon. May be on par 5 2nd. C'mon Jyoti
Update:Vijay bogeys the 5th hole He is left with 4 holes with a score of +8. I still see +7 to be the target score for making cut. I hope he'll play the remaining holes under par.

Re: 2008 - PGA Majors/ WGC/ World Cup
And VJ also bogeyed his 16th hole.. Unless he birdies his last hole, he will be missing his second successive cut at Grand slam.
Jyoti is also not doing very well at +11...
Update: I feel bad for VJ... I am guessing that he decided that he needs to birdie the par 3 9th hole and went for broke resulting in treble bogey. For second successive GS, he will watch the weekend action on TV.
Jyoti stays at +11 thru 15 holes.
Jeev birdied his second hole and got back to -2.

Re: 2008 - PGA Majors/ WGC/ World Cup
What a marvellous sight to see Jeev Milkha Singh still at the top of the leaderboard in a golfing major, the 90th PGA Championship. After 2 holes, he is even-par for the day and shares the tournament lead (at 2-under par) with JB Holmes. Fellow overnight leader Karlsson has started badly (+3 over 3 holes, taking him to +1 for the tournament!). Nice to see a calm start by the leader Jeev Milkha Singh!!!

Re: 2008 - PGA Majors/ WGC/ World Cup
jeev is the sole leader after making birdie at par 5 12th !!!
Update: Jeev bogeyed the 13th and 15th hole and is back at -1 (thru 6 holes). Daniel has a decent start with +1 thru 6 holes
Jeev is on a downward spiral with another bogey at par 3 17th and is out of lead. He is 'E' for the tournament and +2 thru 8 holes
Man, this round is turning worse for Jeev as he bogeys the 18th hole and is now +1 for the tournament (+3 for the round)... I would take par rest of the way

Re: 2008 - PGA Majors/ WGC/ World Cup
Daniel is now +5 for the day as he double bogeys the 11th. Before that he bogeyed 8th and 9th. With +9 overall, Daniel is now fighting to stay on the weekend. He cannot afford any more bogeys.
Jeev is still +3 for the day T7 after 12 holes. The other first round leader Karlsson is +7 for the day after 12 holes and dropped to T40.

Re: 2008 - PGA Majors/ WGC/ World Cup
Cut line is dropping fast and +8 is guaranteed.. VJ may still regret the treble bogey on his last hole... Daniel can go par rest of the way and hope to make the cut

Re: 2008 - PGA Majors/ WGC/ World Cup
A birdie on 14th puts Daniel on the expected cut line of +8. He is left with 4 holes along with two very difficult holes #17 and #18. C'mon Daniel you can do it.
Update: Par on 15th for Daniel. He is exactly T70 at +8. Three more holes to go. Go Dan!
Update: Dan bogeys 16th to fall out of the projected cut
Dan is +9 with the difficult 17th and 18th hole to play. A very difficult situation as nobody has made a birdie on these two holes today and he needs one.
Did I see wrong or did they changed it as I now see Dan made a double bogey on 16th.

Re: 2008 - PGA Majors/ WGC/ World Cup
Hits a good bunker shot on 8th to save par.. Unfortunately found bunker on 9th and did well to save bogey to finish at +2.
They showed a short interview with him and talked about how his wrist injury resulted in the unorthodox swing.
Daniel finished at +10 and in all probability a stroke off the cut line...There could be around 80-85 people making the cut, if the cut line drops to +9.
Updated: cut line stays at +8 and VJ will probably feel little relieved that he went for broke (assuming that he went for birdie on his last hole).
