“I’m loving the course and the wide fairways,” said Prashanth, who averages 270 yards off the tee. “I’m feeling confident and am looking forward to the next two days here.”
From the website of the tournament.

With that kind of length at this age, Avani likely has solid LPGA potential.

Disappointing finish for Avani as most of the top finishers were also at the last tournament that she won.

Saw coverage of the final round on the golf channel and the commentators noted the immense talent of Avani who was following the Thai winner who also won by a big margin.

Avani Prashanth recently won the LET access series event in August. Maybe time to start new thread for her?

She is turning 17 in October and had also recently placed 9th in Kenyan open (tour event). As per the above article, she is expected to get age exemption to play in LET qualifying tournament at the end of this year .

Kumar, while I agree she has had some very creditable success stories and results so far, should we wait for her to first get on a regular professional tour such as the Ladies European Tour (LET) before we add a page for her? I'm OK either way.

I hope she gets through the LET qualifying tournament. Interestingly, I read in an article in the Times of India (TOI) that the minimum age for women golfers to play at LET qualifiers is 18, but the LET director made an exception for her due to her recent successes.

I know she is being touted as a future golf superstar by the media, but the proof of the pudding... :)

Also, Avani has said that she wants to play for India at the Olympics, but do you think she has a chance to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics? I think her world golf ranking as of now is not high enough. Do you (or anybody else in the forum) know what the criteria is for selection to India's golf team for Paris Olympics?

Avani Prashanth finished second in the Australian Master of Amateurs Championships.

Avani had rounds of 71-68-77-70 for a 6-under 286 while the winner Malixi with 70-72-74-69 carded 7-under 285.

Malixi and Avani will battle it out again this week at the Australian Amateurs and then at the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific in Thailand in early February.

Avani missed out on the European Tour Qualification last month and has decided to continue as amateur for some time as she currently ranked 50 in the world.

The other Indian participant in the women's section Heena Kang missed the 54-hole cut, as did Rohit Narwal and Sandeep Yadav in men's section.

Hitaashee Bakshi has won the 2024 Thai LPGA Q-School by 3 shots and has qualified for the 2024 season. This is first time an Indian has qualified for the Thai LPGA. Hitaashee also won a prize money of 20,000 baht.

Fellow Indian Sneha Singh has finished T33 and missed the qualification mark as only Top-20 make it to next season.

Thai LPGA offers World ranking points and can boost Hitaashee's rankings
