Again a great stretch for Arjun with 4 birdies in 5 holes..but he needed to do one better (birdie on the last hole).. The cut was at -4 ..

Arjun had bogeyed the par 5 18th hole (he started on back 9).. And this hole may have very well cost him weekend action..

Arjun's struggle on Nationwide tour continues ... Today at Miccosukee Championship he managed 2 over round and now tomorrow he needs atleast 3 under or better round to make the cut.

At Miccosukee Championship - First Round

T88 Arjun Atwal  73  + 2

Gosh! Arjun really struggles on the Nationwide tour -- even more so than in the PGA tour. I think he made three successive cuts in the PGA tour, and has now followed it up with two awful starts on the Nationwide tour. I hope he doesn't miss the cut for the second successive week on the Nationwide.

And he needs to make the CUT to be sure of playing next week.
Next week only the top 60 will play.
Arjun is currently 57th and needs top make the CUT to be sure.
And next week will be his last chance of getting his card - by winning !!!
Not sure why his form dips when he is on NW Tour - maybe he takes it easy or less intensity....
Also, by finishing top 60, he atleast retains his NW Tour card too.
So lots to play for Arjun today.....

For the last 3 rounds on NW tour, Arjun stinked the joint big time in his opening 9.

In his last three NW rounds, opening nine scores are +1, +2 and +4 (his closing 9 scores were -3, -3 and -2). Is this a case of nerves?

Second round's play has been suspended for the rest of the day at the Miccosukee Championship due to inclement weather ... Arjun didn't start his second round ... Lets hope he finish today on high note.

Arjun had a 70 in the second round, and failed to make the cut -- by two strokes. Forgettable stuff in the Nationwide Tour for Arjun.

Thats a good news. :D Top 60 means at least his NW ccard is already ensured. He will now have direct entry to PGA qualifiers and a chance to earn full PGA card for next year. This must be his worst year. I'm quite hopeful that next year will be different.

Phew! Arjun has survived in the Nationwide Tour by the skin of his teeth. He clearly doesn't enjoy playing on the NW tour, but he needs to either dominate that tour or play better in the few starts he will get on the PGA tour. Next year, NW should probably be his focus.

That was real close... At least he can continue to play in NW tour next year.. Letz hope he can do some damage in the season ending championship and make a direct entry to third stage of qualifying.
