Not a good day for us. Gurbaaz Mann had a meltdown  :damn: Digvijay also could not pull it through to top 10 as he just missed out.

At the Motorola International Bintan, Indonesia - Second Round

T31 Vivek BHANDARI 76 +4
T38 Amardip MALIK 71 -1
T47 Digvijay SINGH 72 71 -1
T60 Uttam Singh MUNDY 71 73 E
-------- Cut @ PAR ---------
T84 Arjun SINGH 74 72 +2
T84 Naman DAWER 77 69 +2
T109 Amritinder SINGH 80 69 +5
T121 Amandeep JOHL 75 76 +7
139 Gurbaaz MANN 77 77 +10
T147 Harmeet KAHLON 82 78 +16

Very poor performance by experianced players like Amandeep and Harmeet ... :damn: After yesterday's round only 3 players were in position of making cut ... But today Vivek Bhandari surprised everyone with producing one of the best round of the tournament with 7 under to climbed around 85 positions ... :notworthy:

Vivek started from back 9, in those 9 holes he scored 4 birdies, an eagle and 2 bogeys ... And on front 9 he added 3 more birdies to produced best round of the tournament.

Amardip scored 2 birdies, an eagle and 3 bogeys in his second round ... Digvijay managed 2 birdies and a bogey in his steady round and Uttam Singh scored 2 birdies and 3 bogeys in his round.

These four players need to do lot more hard work in next 2 rounds to be finding themselves into top 20.

Among the four Indians remaining in the field, the rookie Amardip is the one who must be quite happy as this is only second time in his career he is making the cut in Asian tour. He made his first cut when he played Pakistan Open early this year. He missed the cut in Philippine Open. This is his 3rd Asian event in 2007. Before 2007 he has only played Hero Honda and Aamby Valley Masters, missing the cut all the time. Hopefully he'll get more chances to play and make more cuts. Go Amardip!

At the end of 2nd round, I was worried that Vivek will have a tough round :( especially after such an excellent display of golf in 2nd round

Overall an ordinary performance. With star power missing from Indian contingent, no one could step up and return an exciting performance. With so many co-sanctioned events resulting in reduced field for Asian players, this was an opportunity for not so regular players to get some money under their belt for 07 moneylist. But no one  could use this opportunity.

The `Golden Bear', legendary Jack Nicklaus, was in Beijing for making a special appearance at the inaugural Pine Valley Beijing Open (who designed the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Course and the 27-hole Jack Nicklaus II Links Course at Pine Valley, the venue for this week's event.) ... He mentioned that the future of golf lies in Asia and the Asian Tour will continue to grow.

Golf's future is in Asia, says Nicklaus

Superb start by Gaurav Ghei as he leads the first day field. Only last week I said that Ghei is playing consistently but doing nothing spectacular. Seems like he heard me and shot a great round of 7 under par withe 7 birdies, 2 bogeys and an eagle.

GHEI IN TOP GEAR AT PINE VALLEY BEIJING OPEN
Ghei, who had ended an 11-year wait with a triumph at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters last year, was on the go at the Jack Nicklaus-designed course

“It is good to always think back on your win and if I can keep this up, it would be nice to be among the leaders in the final round. But this is still the early stages and anything can happen,” said Ghei, who blazed past the back nine with five birdies.

The 38-year-old Indian continued his momentum with an eagle on the second hole and a birdie on the fourth before two dropped shots on the fifth and seventh holes. He rolled into the lead with a final birdie on the eighth hole.

“I’ve been playing consistently the last few tournaments. The course is in great shape and it just depends. If the wind blows, anything is possible. I’m playing well and hope to be in contention this week.

“It definitely is a course which suits the long hitters because the fairways are generous and we have guys like John Daly who is a Major winner in the field, it is going to be a tough week to beat these guys. I’m playing well and hopefully I can continue this momentum over the next three days,” admitted Ghei
Second placed Thai Panuwat  had an incredible start - two eagles, a bogey and a birdie in first 4 holes .

At Pine Valley Beijing Open - Second Round

T3      Gaurav GHEI         65  72     -7
T40     Amandeep JOHL       74  69     -1
T53     S.S.P. CHOWRASIA    73  71      E
---------- Cut @ E ----------
T67     Gurbaaz MANN        72  73     +1
T93     Digvijay SINGH      73  76     +5
T93     Uttam Singh MUNDY   76  73     +5
T101    Rahil GANGJEE       76  74     +6
T101    Harmeet KAHLON      73  77     +6
T112    Amardip MALIK       74  77     +7
T112    Vivek BHANDARI      70  81     +7

Check the change of fortune for Vivek .. Yesterday he was 2 under and today he only managed 9 over .... :damn: He had a birdie, 8 bogeys and a double bogey in his round.

Today Gaurav had very quiet PAR round by his yesterday's standard ... He scored 2 birdies and 2 bogeys in his round ... But still he managed to remain in mix of top position.

After yesterday's good start I was hoping minimum 5/6 players playing on weekend .. But today only 3 managed to make cut ... :(

Jaydeep.
