Khachanov moves on as Korda retires. Good on Khachanov for protesting about the Azeri atrocities in Nagorno Karabakh. I visited Baku and it is a lovely city with nice people. But, the Azeris are possibly the aggressors in that conflict fueled by their oil money. Anway, moving on.

So, among the marquee names: Rublev, Tsitsipas, Djokovic ... the new generation is finally firmly rooted with Djokovic still bossing around.

Khachanov is looking good. I didn't hear his comments on Nagorno-Karabakh, but he is indeed of largely Armenian descent, although formally representing Russia. His dad is fully Armenian, and his mom is half-Armenian. The Armenians have had a horrific century (actually 106 years) of atrocities committed against them, so it's good that Karen has aired that information.

Ah, yes. I am just catching up.

Tsitsipas is 2 games away from playing Khachanov in one SF -- he leads Lehecka 63 76(2) 43 (but it's just become 4-4 in the third set; now one game away almost immediately after I typed this, at 5-4 in the 3rd). An Armenian vs Greek SF would be interesting, both coming from nations that rebelled against the Ottoman Turks in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Djokovic-Rublev is a pretty exciting QF (albeit with Djoker the clear favourite). And the winner of that will play an American in the SF (the winner of Shelton vs Paul).

Update: Tsitsipas through in straight sets 63 76(2) 64. Will play Karen Khachanov in the SF.

Tommy Paul looks likely to be slaughtered by Djokovic in the SF. Rublev was no match for Djoker after the first 2 games. And Djoker has totally dominated everyone he's played at Melbourne Park this year (and actually since 2019!).

I think Tsitsipas is the only one who can give Djokovic a fight in the final. But Tsitsipas-Khachanov could go either way, and I wouldn't put it past the latter to win it.

My money is on Djokovic and Khachanov making the finals with Djokovic winning the title!

Tsitsipas won. And, Djokovic will most possibly win. So, it will be the battle of the abominables.

Khachanov missed an opportunity, and the break in the opening game of the 4th set proved decisive.
However Novak will prevail over the Greek to take the title.

Tsitsipas held his nerve well today, except at match-points in the third set. After that hiccup, it was relatively smooth sailing. I think we will have a terrific final between him and Djokovic.

Bit of a mini drama in the first set with Novak leading Paul 51, allowed himself to be broken twice, but once it became 5 all, the Serb would have no more of that and toyed with his opponent to take the set and the match in straight sets.

Has been looking very aggressive as compared to previous years and all the pains and injuries he complains about during the tournament heals perfectly at the right time.

Djokovic increasingly looking as if he will end up as the GOAT. Tsitsipas played a superb match, but hardly had a chance against Novak on his favourite court.

Nice to see Rosewall handing him the trophy again, although Novak seems too young to know how great Rosewall was -- easily Laver's equal: the year after Laver won the calendar Grand Slam, he played 51 times against Rosewall and lost 38 times including all their meetings in the Pro Slams.

Wild French Open. Meaning Wild defeated Medvedev #2 seed after coming in as a qualifier.

The others: Alcaraz-Tsitsipas, Djokovic-Rublev, Rune-Ruud, and Sinner-Coric are the seeds lining up for the quarters. Of course, most possibly all will not make it. Let us see.
