Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup
Alcaraz-Sinner was an absolutely spectacular match, which ended at 2:54am...
Tiafoe was brilliant in the first two sets' tiebreakers against Rublev. Matches were otherwise very tight. (Alcaraz got blown away in the 3rd set TB, then ensured that the final two sets ended before the tiebreaks!).
The quality of tennis was superb. Ruud was utterly sublime in the first 13 games against Berrettini, then looked more human for the rest of the match.

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup
Carlos Alcaraz, the new king of tennis. He should be around as a Slam contender for the next 12 years at least, and he will be potent on all surfaces (perhaps taking a bit longer to become dominant on grass). Let's hope his rivals (Ruud, Medvedev, Zverev, Tsitsipas, Tiafoe, Norrie, Sinner, Fritz, Kyrgios) are able to compete effectively, and the Nadal-Djokovic duo make one last attempt to challenge him.

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup
Next year's French Open may have the best contest with Alcaraz, Nadal, and Djokovic all top-tier contenders with the odd Thiem threat. At Wimbledon, I think Djokovic is going to rule easily. Australian is also faster courts. I think the new government will let Djokovic come and play. So, it will be Djokovic vs Alcaraz. I think Nadal is done everywhere except the French. That is why I think the French may have the most legitimate contenders next year and Wimbledon the least. But, anyway, all this is on paper. There is a reason they play the game. Someone may have some injury, lose form, etc. Let us see.

^^^ The end of an era. The young fellow whom I saw losing to Leander in a qualifying match on an outside court at Indian Wells some 22 years ago, is finally calling it quits. What a career, and what a magnificent player! He will be missed.

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup
So, Rune enters the top-10. Is the nextgen Alcaraz-Rune? Or maybe the yet to develop but developing Nardi and 17-year old Shang? Interesting. Musetti is 20. Then there is Sinner 21. Auger-Alliasime 22. Lots of youngsters in the scene now (as perhaps always). Let's see who is the real deal.
Ruud and Tsitsipas are 24 and look old in comparison.

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup
Jeez, Rune seems to be an incredible talent too. Just 19 and beating all these top players! Yeah, the next generation is very much here. Your list is good. We have to think that a couple of them will be around for a long time, like Federer, Nadal, Djoker etc.
I am so envious of all these countries. I wish we could get a 19 year old who can crack even top-150

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup
^^^ Well, now that RamK has already lost, the only way that can happen is for Mukund to win the Matsuyama challenger and go to #240. Why the frig not? Go Mukund. Make our day. Or week, month, or year!

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup
But realistically speaking if he (Mukund) does exceptionally well in these 3 Challengers and has a good consistent run in these 3 tournaments, who knows...can even be in contention for the AO qualies spot if he comes around 240.

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup
Rune was so scared of grass (for DC in Delhi this March), but here he has gone and won the Paris Masters on a fast indoor surface, beating Djokovic in the final. The young brigade has truly arrived this year.
