PGA Qualifying Tournament 2006
Hello every body,
Any one with ties to India in this year's Qualifying Tournament?
Looking at the names listed, I could not identify any such players.
http://pgatq.bluegolf.com/league/pgatq6/players.htm
But I do not understand why these players' names are on there:
Camillo Villegas, Nathan Green - they are pretty high in this year's money list.
Kirk Triplett - winner from last year.
Does anyone have a scoop ?
There are some big names like Darren Clarke, Rich Beem.
Even Arjun Atwal is listed. Does anyone know if he is planning to go to the Q-school this year?
Since he is a member this year, he could go to the second stage directly. Also, if he could remain in the top 150 in the money, he will have an exempt status.
Cheers everybody.

Sreek007, the answer is yes. See below.sreek007 wrote:Any one with ties to India in this year's Qualifying Tournament?
Indeed, this is a mystery. What does this list of player means? While looking for the name of the contestant Amit Chopra in the list, I found that it has the name of Daniel Chopra but not the other Chopra. But I do not understand why these players' names are on there:

Anyway, the good news is that Amit Chopra (a childhood golf mate of Daniel Chopra) has prequalified for the Q school. Amit finished T28, where top 42 and ties qualified for the Q school. Amit Chopra just got married last week and Daniel was the best man in his wedding.

My namesake Ajay Shah is T34, two strokes behind the cut (top 27 and ties that will qualify for next round of qualifier)..

Re: PGA Qualifying Tournament 2006
Amit Chopra is playing round 2 of the First Stage qualifier at Hollister, CA. Top 27 and ties go to the second stage. He had a good first round with a 3 under par score that puts him in a good position to qualify. His second round score is not yet in. Currently he is T12 based on his first round score. If he can play an under par round 2, he'll be in a good psotion. Go Amit!!

Re: PGA Qualifying Tournament 2006
Amit Chopra went one over par in his 2nd round
But he is still in top 26 as he is T23 at -2. Seems like he is quite aggressive playerr. He scored 5 birdies and 6 bogeys today. Yesterday he hit 4 birdies and a lone bogey.

Is Amit Chopra an NRI or an Indian citizen? No relation of Daniel, I presume...

Amit Chopra had terrible 7 over third round ... He had 6 bogeys, a double bogey and single birdie on this round ... Now he is tied 63rd position and need some miracle round to reach into top 26 ..

Re: PGA Qualifying Tournament 2006
The PGA qualifiers start tomorrow !!!!!
Good luck Arjun. He has had a month's rest and should be raring to go.
Tees off @ 9:26am with Bubba Dickerson & John Riegger....
The event is palyed on 2 courses. 163 players. Top 30 +ties will get the card...
Arjun should be one of the favuorites to secure the card.
The performances of Jeev, Jyoti, Ghei, Daniel, Shiv must have given him that extra push to go and do well. Arjun desperately needs the card as otherwise he will have only a conditional PGA card for 2007, which wil pnly give him 12-15 events in the whole year...C'mon Arjun

Re: PGA Qualifying Tournament 2006
And he is -1 after 11 holes . The last three holes were birdie, bogey, birdie.
Update: Guess what comes next in the series mentioned above. Yes, a bogey He is back to Even par after 12 holes.
Update: After another pair of birdie and bogey, Arjun Atwal finishes his first round at even par T26

Re: PGA Qualifying Tournament 2006
Very rocky start with lots of up-down by Arjun in his Even par round ... He scored 4 birdies and 4 bogeys in his round ... Currently he tied for 24th position ... He needs to tighten his game in remaining rounds ... Go Arjun.

Re: PGA Qualifying Tournament 2006
Arjun has done remarkably well as he was playing on the TOUGH TPC Course, where the average scoring was more than 76. All the leading players played on the Nicklaus Tournament Course.....
Well done Arjun and now for the push. Today Arjun plays the easier course and needs a solid round to make a move and feel a bit relaxed going into Friday....
For info - Twenty-three players posted sub-par scores during the first round, with 19 of those scores coming on the Nicklaus Tournament Course & the scoring averages for the two courses on Wednesday – TPC Stadium (76.098) and Nicklaus Tournament Course (73.617).
