Great win by the boys! Koreans have been very good at the junior levels lately and our junior boys not so much, so this is a pleasant surprise...

Yes but now they need to make it count by winning one of the matches in next 2 days against China or Australia/Japan , all usually tough teams.

Damn, Hongkong made it tough for other Asian nations by finishing last in last year's world group and losing a spot for Asia.

Today, Siddhant lost to Chinese no. 2 who has won all his matches with ease this week. But, Adil came back with a bang after yesterday's loss to beat Chinese no.1 who is ranked 71 in ITF junior rankings. Unfortunately, they just fell short in the match tie break.

So, we will now meet Australia for the third place play off. We will need to win that match to qualify for world group. Japan (whom we had given a tough fight) easily beat Australia . So, I think there is hope there.

And with a comprehensive win over Australia, India qualified for the junior davis cup world group ( top 16) to be played in Budapest, Hungary from 27th September to 2nd October, 2016.

Excellent work by the boys. Our no.1 Adil Kalyanpur won 5 of the 6 matches and only lost to Korea no. 1 in what seemed an aberration. He is clearly among top 3 players in Asia-Oceania in this age group. Siddhant finished 3-3 but had crucial wins against Korea and Australia.

Congratulations to our Junior Davis Cup team for winning the all important third-place match. We need to congratulate the coach (Vishal Uppal) for keeping the focus of his wards in this match.

When s the Junior Fed Cup final qualifications for Asia-Oceania region!! which country gonna host it!!!! usually it happens very next week of JDC na!

Yea I got it!! Sri Lanka going to host it from 11th to 16th April!!!

Where did you get this ? As far as I know, it will be held in Delhi next week ( week starting April 11).

We are seeded fourth and are in group D along with 8th seeds Korea, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka. Here are top 4 will qualify for world group. So, we will need to win the group to get an easier match-up in the all important quarter final.

Nice job by the under-16 boys to beat Korea and Australia and qualify for the world group.

I recall Banthia winning the Road to Wimbledon a year (or two?) ago, but he didn't turn up at Wimbledon juniors last year. (What happened there? I know I've asked this question before!). And Kalyanpur was his doubles partner in winning that Road too, I think, and has also qualified for this year's FO juniors. Playing the Slam juniors when one is too young is not necessarily such a great idea, but it's good to see these promising kids making good progress in their age groups.

Well, I did not realise that this is first time since 2010 that our junior davis cup team has qualified for the world top 16 till I came across this article from Indian express. Going back in this thread last time we made it was in 2010 when we had a team consisting of RamK, Ronit Bisht and Arjun Kadhe.

Well, at least some money will come their way now, since AITA president Anil Khanna has announced a cash award of `1 lakh each for the five players — including reserves Abhimanyu Bannenreddy and Dakshineswar Suresh.

That is good initiative by AITA which will help these players in their development.
