Third double-round of the A1 GP series is going underway on October 23rd in Estoril/Portugal. A well-known testing venue for F1 teams. Some of the A1 GP drivers tested there extensively for F1 teams: Piquet jr, Jani, Firman, Scheckter. Not to count Jos Verstappen who raced F1 cars there in a numer of occasions and local driver Alvaro Parente. Mathias Lauda knows the track from European F3000, while Timo Scheider raced there in DTM.

Karun unfortunately missed the Portuguese race in the "World Series by Renault" and has no knowledge on the track. It will be interesting to see team India's drivers performing in Estoril against better prepared drivers from other countries.

I don't think India would be able to score any points in this season.

Way too pessimistic! After all, Ananda Mikola and Alex Yoong scored consistently and they're not some helluva drivers. Team India will definitely score points in A1 GP this season. Probably, best chances are in Indonesia, where the track offers equal chances for inexperienced drivers. By then, Karun would gain the required experience in order to perform in an A1GP car, so there are chances for him to shine.

Till then, a little advice for Karun: watch out for that left-right uphill chicane (hairpin) in Estoril that produced a huge number of spins/crashes over the years!

India to field Armaan Ibrahim for this weekends race. Which will make him the youngest driver to race in A1

Im thinking he will do the sprint race leaving the feature race to karun

I am not sure about India scoring points here. Tough. Too many good teams. Unless some car crashes adn retires India has 30% chance of getting some points.

It looks like team India hit some trouble. They were unable to get out of the pits in free parctice 1 today and they didn't any flying lap in free parctice 2. Just an installation lap in 3'18". Best mark was set by Brazil in 1'51".

well he is confirmed for the race so dont think there is a age limit !!

Yeah the never ending problems for india. The throttle was jammed for the first shakedown tests....so Armaan only got about 4 laps. And he also had some other mechanical problem which caused him to spun out in the Second practice session...

Hope fully today will be a better day ....He only has one more practice to learn the track..
