moderators, if u feel this belongs to another thread, pls feel free to move it but i wanted to mention this.
i think there is something that sania can (and must) try without changing her game in any way. most of us underestimate the role that racquets play in the game. at the level the pros play, even a small difference in the racquet makes a huge impact on the game.
i think sania should try increasing the tension on her strings. this will increase control, though the power will be reduced. i'm sure the payback in reducing the UFE's by even 10% will be greater than the slight loss in power.
esp. bcos sania hits flat with less topspin, her margin for error is very less. pete sampras (who also had eastern grip groundies) strung his racquet at 75 lbs, and those of u who play tennis know how high that is. sania can try something like 62-65 lbs.
i recommend the posts by johncauthen in the following 3 threads, to get an idea of the racquet industry and how much difference it can make.

Thanks for those links Shakes. I hadn't seen them before. Seems like there is plethora of info there, which I couldn't grasp by a mere cursory browsing, will need a detailed read.
one thing... though Sania hits flatter, he doesn't have an eastern grip like Sampras. She hits with a western/semi western grip. Hitting with top-spin should come easy to her. That would add some variety and reduce her errors.

i think she mentioned something about that in her latest column (i posted it under the columns thread). she said that would make things go awry. and i think, esp. when she hits balls from above her shoulder height, she does use some topspin.one thing... though Sania hits flatter, he doesn't have an eastern grip like Sampras. ROFL! eddie boy, you are not fully getting why i or cc are critical about such a perspective. Its not about predictions as much as attitude/way of thinkingi think both you guys have got a point.
while its tough to predict whether or not sania has started the journey on the "highway to hell"(as AC/DC would put it), there is a valid point in that it cannot be ruled out entirely either.
Ups and downs are pretty much a part of every one's life. that's gthe perspective you need to have. Its not good thinking at all to talk about the end as soon a bad phase turns up. Such views or thinking are not to be encouraged in general . That's what we were getting at. I mean people who have lost entire livelihood have come back from the very brink/depths. Its a joke if people with millions of rupees in the bank can't handle less life threatening issues.

I just hope she doesn't go the LP way i.e become a doubles specialist! Hopefully she is playing doubles to get better at singles (esp her volleying). I am not a big fan of doubles and I hope she doesn't depend on it for livelihood! Hey, but a title is a title and congratulations to her!!Sania getting good partners in doubles

Good luck to Sania and Huber in the finals.
