^^^ I don't think it is decided which team will go to which qualifiers. We can ask FIH to schedule us in Spain qualifiers due to political situation.

Maybe they need a shorter field or try with 8 a side or something like that.

Craig Fulton conducts coaching session for domestic head coaches

Indian men’s hockey team chief coach Craig Fulton on Friday conducted a coaching session for the head coaches of the member units participating in the 13th Senior Men National Championship 2023.

The aim of the session, which was organized at the Conference Hall of the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium, was to elevate coaching standards within the domestic circuit. The session provided an opportunity for knowledge exchange between the coaches.
The interactive coaching session, facilitated by Fulton, delved into diverse topics, including the Indian principles of play both with and without the ball, strategic game management to the score and remaining time, and effective player management considering the demanding schedule, among other crucial aspects.

The men's team is off to South Africa for 4-5 matches v France, RSA and Netherlands. here is the squad:

Goalkeepers PR Sreejesh, Krishan Pathak, and Pawan
defenders Jarmanpreet Singh, Jugraj Singh, Amit Rohidas, Harmanpreet Singh, Varun Kumar, Sumit, Sanjay and Rabichandra Singh Moirangthem.

Midfielders are Vivek Sagar Prasad, Nilakanta Sharma, Rajkumar Pal, Shamsher Singh, Vishnukant Singh, Hardik Singh, and Manpreet Singh.

Forwards: Mandeep Singh, Abhishek, Sukhjeet Singh, Gurjant Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Akashdeep Singh, Araijeet Singh Hundal, Boby Singh Dhami.

Good to see some new faces but appalled to see Karthi Selvan's disappearance (he must have said something untoward) and the return of the 'great' Akashdeep. Mandeep, as always is selected. And Lalit is also back. Clearly actual performance is not considered. So, in my opinion, the following have had enough chances: Jarmanpreet, Amit Rohidas, Raj Kumar Pal & Shamsher as well as the 3 forwards mentioned above

I expect a struggle against the French and a defeat v the Dutch.

India finish fifth after beating Egypt. Maybe if we had beaten Egypt in the group match, we would have gotten better quarterfinal matchups? Would that have mattered? Article

This format is not popular now because it is new. I wonder if it will catch on with time. Let's see.

Our mens team started 5 match test tour of Australia and first match turned to be our usual story against Australia - 1-5 loss. Why do we struggle so much against Australia ?
