[F] Prerna Vichare d. Priyanshi Bhandari 62 57 75

It seems government does -provide extensive sponsorship for winner of medals of KIYG. So, our best in those categories participated here.

Manish and Mahak are clearly our best under 20 players right now and if they get good support from government by winning these medals it will be great for their development in next 2-3 years.

3 of our players selected for Asian team for Europe tour-

From Kamesh on his FB page-
Three Indian players in ITF Asian under-14 team for Europe
Three Indian players Maaya Rajeshwaran, Harithashree Venkatesh and Shivtej Shirfule have been selected in the Asian under-14 team for the European circuit as part of ITF Grand Slam Development Programme.
The European circuit will start with a three-day training camp in Paris, France, from July 7 to 9. Thereafter the players will compete in five tournaments. The first three tournaments will be in France, and will be followed by the ones in Germany and Belgium. The tour will conclude in the second week of August.
This selection was based on performance in Asian 14 and under tournament which was held in India 2-3 weeks back.

These kids will benefit from this stint in Europe. But, again our selection for the junior teams in question due to another news on same day-
Second seed Tavish Pahwa beat top seed Shivtej Shirfule 7-5, 6-1 in the boys final of the Asian under-14 tennis tournament at the Ace Tennis Academy.
Tavish in partnership with Hruthik Katakam was beaten in the doubles final by Shivtej and Anurag Kallambella.
Third seed Siyoen Sim of Korea won the girls title, beating the top seed Emily Kim of Uzbekistan 6-1, 6-4. Siyoen also won the doubles title in partnership with Yan Rong Tzeng of Chinese Taipei.
Tanish Pahwa ( whose parents have raised a hue and cry for not being selected for Indian team only because of lower AITA rankings) easily beat Shivtej Shirfule who was selected for Indian and now Asian team to Europe.

Tanish's parents may be regretting speaking out. It never helps with AITA, unfortunately. AITA is totally Teflon. It can hurt the kid. That would be sad.

Under 16 national tennis championships was played out this week in Kolhapur. Posting the results here as some of the player we discussed earlier on the other thread played here-

15 year old Arnav Paparkar won the boys title coming thru qualifiers. Earlier we had discussed him having won the event at Austalian open for 14 and under at the start of the year. He beat statemate Samarth Sahita in the final. He is someone to keep an eye on.

In girls, 14 year old Sai Janhavi won the title beating Rishitha Basireddy in the final. In the semi final, Rishitha had beaten 13 year old Prisha Shinde who had upset Aisharvya Jadhav in QF.

These are results from SF onwards-

Samarth Sahita(Mah)(4) bt Praneel Sharma(Del) 6-4, 6-0
(Q)Arnav Paparkar(Mah) bt Aradhya Kshitij(Kar)(2) 6-3, 6-4

Final-

Rishitha Basireddy(TS)(9) bt Prisha Shinde(Mah) 6-1, 7-6(2)

Was having a look at results of these kids on European under 14 circuit. They have finished 3 weeks of tournaments in France out of the 5 week tour.
And some really good results by Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi. After losing in second round in category 1 event in week 1, she reached QF in Category 3 in week and this week reached SF of category 1 event which must be having some good European kids.

Other Indian girl Harithashree Venkatesh also reached QF in week 2 and has made it to second round in week 1 and 3.

The only boy, Shivtej Shirfule has lost in first round in all 3 weeks, not surprising considering his results in India earlier were not that great.

But, good experience for these girls in particular.
