Just when it looked like Arjun could really move up in standing, he had a mediorcre round of -2 through 17 holes (scoring was very low today).. But still a birdie could move him to -3 and -8 for the tournament and  a chance for top 10 finish.. He needs to really produce today and tmw.

After 8 holes (back nine), Daniel chopra is -5 (-12 for the tournament) and is tied for 2nd place.. He is two strokes behind leader, who is yet to start.

Arjun has three birdies after 7 holes (front nine) after he started the day at 4 under. He is -7 for the tournament.

Since the course is playing very easy, both of them would need -7 or -8 round to get into top 10.

Edited: Daniel is still -5 after 10 holes, while Atwal is -4 after 10 holes. I am predicting Daniel to get 4 more birdies and stay in top 10... And even a -7 or -8 may be insufficient for top 10 at end of 3rd round..

Third round:

Daniel Chopra is the clubhouse leader at -15 after he had a sizzling round of 8-under-par 64 today.  Arjun Atwal is -5 today after playing 17 holes and is currently tied for 10th place.  Several golfers are still on the course and the leaderboard may change at the end of the third round.

Arjun Atwal has rounds of 67 69 and 67 and is at -12.  Currently he is tied for 15th but his position may change later today.  Daniel Chopra continues to hold the top place along with Charley Hoffman.

Daniel makes an eagle on the 16th hole and is one stroke behind the co-leaders.  Come on Daniel.

Arjun had a disappointing bogey  bogey par finish (included a par 5 bogey) and finished one over for the day (which is a strict no-no), He is currently T44 and could finish with around 18K :(... Very disappointing finish after his wonderful start.. This is happening for second week in a row.. At least last week, he had a good final round to make some ground.

And he makes birdie on 17th to move within one stroke of the leader again. Needs a birdie on 18th or bogey from Troy Matteson to force playoff or win outright

Edited: Unfortunately Troy Matteson sticks to ten feet off the pin on 18th, while Daniel is almost 20 feet away.. :(. Need a miracle putt to force a playoff

Anyway, an excelllent round and an excellent tournament for Daniel!!!  woohoo woohoo
His best finish of his career and his biggest pay check of the career.
Congratulations DAniel!!

The TV coverage gave Daniel a lot of on-air time today.  Daniel got on fire after the eagle followed by a birdie - he made along birdie putt when his playing partners failed to make theirs from closer range but from the same area of the green.  His approach shot on the 18th was not the best but he gave it all to make the birdie putt and possibly send the tournament for a play-off.  Alas, the birdie putt came up short and Daniel lost first place by one stroke.  :(

Terrific result from Daniel ... That shows his current form and increased confidence on his game ... I liked his big round in the last round ... He is on verge to win title on PGA Tour ... Go Daniel.

Arjun again lost opportunity due to one bad round ... :(

At Frys.com Open - Final Standing (USPGA Tour)

T2 Daniel Chopra 69 67 64 66 -21 $352,000.00
T44 Arjun Atwal  67 69 67 73 -11 $11,805.71

Luckily Arjun has not slipped fro his 138 place on money list.
A half decent round yesterday would have pushed him near 130.
But, he had a terrible day after the 3rd hole and never scored a single birdie during the round on a course where birdies and eagles were scored by all.

Now 2 events to go. the next 15 guys behind Arjun on money list are all playing this week. So Arjun has to make the cut and that should seal his 125-150 place and an entry to final qualies. Still hope he has a top 10 this week and secure FULL playing rights. daniel has moved to 48th in money listing...... :notworthy:

Daniel Chopra had his best finish on the PGA Tour at Frys.com Open in Las Vegas and his outstanding play in the third round – eight-under-par 64 – set himself up well for the final assault on Sunday; however, he came very close to missing his start on Saturday.  Daniel was stuck in traffic for over two hours in Las Vegas and barely made to the first tee on time.  His playing partner, Ryuji Imada, was also stuck in traffic made worse by flooding and accidents but was not as lucky and could not reach the tee box on time and was disqualified.

That is a fabulous result by Daniel :notworthy:
Arjun also clearly belongs on the PGA tour and hopefully will get a top 10 finish in one of the final two events to seal his card.
