Then this victory is even more important. Players like Jeevan went up to as high as 64 in doubles, however failed to sustain.

Yuki has a better game. So he is expected not only to defend points but also take his points total higher. Nothing less than top 20 should make him happy.

Up next for them are defending champs Erler/Miedler who beat them in the semis at Marrakech ATP 250 tournament.

Nice second ATP title for Yuki Bhambri. Just the first title for Olivetti. At this point the pairing will have to do really well in the grand slam tournaments for them to move up substantially in the rankings. Olivetti is slightly higher than Yuki largely due to making the QF of the US Open and getting 360 points.

Btw, Yuki hasn’t shrunk recently. Olivetti is apparently 6’8”!

Shouldn't this be in the European challengers thread, Sameer? I had put in Yuki's R1 match score there. Actually I am a little confused on where the scores should go now. The ATP tour events also coming up....

Yeah, you can move it there. I missed your earlier post and though since Yuki was the only playing here posted here.

My thinking is if there only 1 Indian player playing in a particular tournament, it should be in player thread, if there more than 1, it should be in tournaments thread.

But, either way is ok.

Okay, that sounds good. That is what we were following all along too.

Wow they lose at challers and win in ATP level. But I guess that's doubles these days. But consistent ATP level wins is a sign of progress. Yuki should be happy with himself

He had a first round win at Lyon last year too, partnering Saketh. So he replaced the points and will stay at the same career high ranking of 54... Hopefully more wins and points will come this week... If they can win the title, Olivetti and Yuki will probably be #49 and #50. Every win is sorta worth one spot of upward movement at this level. It is a tough grind until you start going a few rounds in grand slams and Masters events.

There is some overlap between the top of the challenger level and bottom of the ATP level. The Bordeaux event was a 175 point challenger which is basically a mini ATP event where the winner gets more points than a ATP event runners up.
