Yuki's poor form in the last two months is generally continuing. However, the close win and loss here is at least a slight improvement to some of the other losses including the ones in the Asian Games.

YB is done.

It is time we look beyond the current crop as the next players to track. I am watching Dhamne. And Sumit of course. Given up on the rest though I wish them the best and rejoice when they win.

Dhamne is quite far from being a player on the mens tour. We can see what impact he has on the junior tour over the next couple of years.

Other than Sumit, we really have no else on the mens tour that is any good in singles. Yuki could still be a top 40 doubles player and so could a few others.

You are right, but he seems to the only one who looks like he can make it in the future. I see no one else.

Yuvan Nandal does have the tools to become something in the pro tour. Let us see.

Yuki playing on main ATP tour this week with a new partner, Britain's Julien Cash who is a good partner ranked 51. But, they get a tough first round against second seeds.

At Stockholm ATP 250, Sweeden (Hard)

[R1] Yuki Bhambri (IND) / Julian Cash (GBR) vs. (2) Nikola Cacic (SRB) /Mate Pavic (CRO)

Good win for Yuki and his new partner over a former world #1 in doubles (Pavic) and former #35 (currently 65). Julian Cash is ranked 51 after winning the Malaga Challenger doubles title last week. Good chance to go all the way this week?

Did he intentionally play poor tennis in Asian games?

Absolutely no reason for him to do so. I think it was just a case of hubris -- and sudden build-up of pressure -- when playing the R1 of the men's doubles. Partnering the US Open finalist can be a bit intimidating, as anything that goes wrong is likely to be blamed on the partner. Did anyone watch the matches?

Well, the great captain of Indian Davis Cup thought that he was the reason for the loss.

I watched some part of Yuki-Bops match and it is not as if only Yuki was making mistakes, Bops too was making quite a few errors. They just did not seem to be gelling together well. Maybe their game does not complement each other well.

But, no reason for Yuki to be not playing well intentionally, missing out with all the accolades and prizes which come with an Asian games medal. Rutuja, Saketh and RamK are enjoying those accolades now. Bops was still in China though.

Yuki was playing poorly on the tour at least a month or more prior to the Asian Games. He’d have to be incredibly stupid to intentionally play poorly in the Asian Games when winning a medal would have been one of his highest profile achievements this year.

Looks like his form is turning around in that he’s at least winning 1 match per tournament.
