They lost in straight sets (6-4 6-3) to alt pair of Smith/Mies. I don’t see this partnership lasting longer. :kookoo:

They reached the SFs at ATP 500 Dubai (Yuki's first ATP 500 semi)
Why aren't they playing Indian wells ?

Last pair in has a combined rank of 60, so no chance for them to get into IW.

Yes, one needs to be in top 30, 35 at least to make main draws of ATP 1000 tournaments. That is why period like this March when there are 2 weeks each of masters - IW and Miami are tough for doubles players ranked between 30 and 70 like Yuki. They have to play challengers and where winning a title at best add 2-3 spots to the ranking level.

For someone like Yuki to move up from 60's to inside top 50 and better, needs to consistently go to SF/F of ATP 250 tournaments, win a couple of titles a year. More importantly try to go QF or so at slams which give huge points. Unfortunately, Yuki has played 5 slams since last year and has won a round in only one of them and lost in first round of other 4. Needs to change that to move up significantly.

Yuki is in Miami. Perhaps he has a wildcard due to his former IMG connection?

Nope, got in with Michael Venus whose regular partner Jamie Murray made a late withdrawal. So, Yuki making his madtees series debut in Miami.

He is making his Masters series DOUBLES debut at Miami. He has of course played Masters in singles (making last-16 of Indian Wells, for instance).

Yes, he has played the singles main draw at Miami thrice and made the R-64 in 2018. Good luck to him with Venus with whom he’s had success in the past.

Yuki/Venus draw second seeds Krajicek/Dodig in the first round, so a tough draw for them. Yuki has lost to this pair twice recently with different partners, so he's hoping that it is third time lucky. Yuki and Venus had won 2 rounds and made the 3rd round (PQF) of the AO in 2014 (where they beat Rojer/Tecau but lost to Paes/Stepanek), so they have had good results in the past.

Yuki played in Madrid Challenger 100 this week along with new partner Ariel Behar of Uruguay but lost in first round 36 64 7-10 against Demoliner and Luz.

Next week he is back with Albano Olivetti at Munich ATP.

At Munich ATP 250 (clay)

[R1] Yuki Bhambri (IND) / Albano Olivetti (ITA) vs. (3) Sander Gille (BEL) / Joran Vliegen (BEL)

Gille and Vliegen have reached Monte Carlo Masters final this week. So, that is quite a tough opener for Yuki and Olivetti.

Looks like Yuki was defending 90 points this week, so needs another win to defend those points. I title will move him to the mid 50s in the ranking. Good luck for another few wins which are much needed for him to move up…
