Basically a froum to cover chess now that we seem to have sufficient interest in the game.

Both Sasi and Ganguly were unfortunate to be eliminated, specially Sasi who had won his first game and just needed a draw to go the next round.
Hari did well to come back and go through.

Good draw for Hari against Dreev. Dreev is a dangerous player and is going to play with white pieces in second round. Hope Hari can get a dull game together, mean at least a draw.

India89: In tournament, if the players are tied in points after 2 standard games, they play tie breaker games which are shorter in time control (normally 15mins) to decide the winner.

There are rapid games and then blitz games which are of just 5 minute durations...

Oh my god how can one person beat the other one in 5 minutes. Their brains must work really fast. Anyways I hope that Indian boys put up a better show next time. I wish you good luck.

You should play a bit of chess. 5 minutes is normally too much time for a chess player. I generally play 2min games myself on internet. :)

Hari did well to get this far, though his ranking suggests he should have done more. Following are the rating changes from this tournament. Interesting thing to note is that Hari is losing more points that others. Ganguly is gaining the most points.

Hari -4
Sasi +1
Ganguly +13

Looks like Ponamariov is now favorite to win the tournament. Pono, Grischuk, Aronian and Bacrot are in semis.
