Right. But isn't it a strategic mistake NRAI seems to be making by sending A-team to 50M rifle3 events where we already secured max quota of 2 in both Mens and Womens events. Why not give others some exposure and some well needed rest to A-team ?
in Rapid fire pistol our guys do not seems to be doing too well...By stage-1 completion Adarsh singh and Vijayveer Sidhu are at 7,8 positions lagging by a good 5 points to leader board. They have to do well in stage-2 tomorrow to be in finals.

I too think so. Not much was at stake here in the event where we already have a quota. So, particularly in rifle team, we could have selected a second string team like China did.

2 Shooters above them are shooting for ranking points only. So, technically they are in 5,6 positions and Korea have 3 shooters above them and Korea already has full quotas. So, they are 3rd and 4th among those not qualified, Kazakhstan and Vietnam shooters above them do not have quotas.
Our third shooter, Gurpreet Singh shot a blank one one of the shots which ruined his day as otherwise he could finished with 290, 291 and in 3rd, 4th place.
It is only halfway thru and lets see how they do tomorrow.
And Vijayveer Siddhu qualified for 25M pistol final and since 4 of the 6 shooters are ineligible for quota, he gets our 17th quota place for Paris.
In womens 50M rifle 3 positions, Sift Kaur Samra and Aashi Chouksey won silver and bronze, sort of similar like Asian games but there Sift had won gold instead of silver with a world record score.
Vijayveer Siddhu won silver in rapid fire pistol. So, that ends this championships for olympic events.
We now have 8 out 8 rifle quotas and 7 out of 8 pistol quotas. Only one missing is 10M Air pistol for women. There is one world qualifier where we can get it but it does not make much of a difference as our 3 best women pistol shooters- Manu, Esha and Rhythm shoot both events - 10M and 25M.
Shotgun Asian championships start from tomorrow which will be crucial for us as we have only 2 out 8 quotas in shotgun so far.
I will do a full review at the end of the month with a few more Olympic qualification events in other sports but do not expect the shooting medal EV to change a lot because of these quotas.
The two biggest gains are a second team in the mixed pistol event (Tokyo had 20 teams) and the second team will also have an outside chance of medaling (0.05-0.1). We can also now choose to send all 3 of Manu, Esha, Rhythm across the events (10, 25, mixed). Esha is the best finals shooter of the 3 but not a great qualification shooter, Manu is obviously world class at qualification; we can mix and match depending on current form. That extra flexibility probably increased our EV by another 0.05-0.1. Rest of the quota spots gained here are not going to translate to medals (for completeness, I will probably assign them a 0.01 EV).
Overall I am not expecting any medals from pistol shooters as of now. It will need one of Esha/Manu to do well in both qualifications/finals which they have not been doing as of now. Best chance if pistol events is mixed team. Our real medal chances are in 5 rifle events- starting with 50m rifle 3 positions - first women ( Sift), men ( Tomar) followed by Womens 10M ( Either of Mehuli, Ela, Ramita) and mens 10M (Rudranksh) and mixed team in that order.
Will be highly disappointing if we get less than 2 medals at Paris but so it was last time and we faltered. So, lets us see.
In Tokyo, pistol shooter Saurabh Chaudhary was the world's best going in but failed to medal even though he shot well in the qualification of both the mens and mixed event. Perhaps, the pressure of expectations got to him. I'm hoping that we win some medals early in the Olympics, so that the pressure to win an Olympic medal (in any sport) isn't as large as it appears to an Indian athlete given our historic futility in winning Olympic medals. We have started winning more medals in Olympics recently, so hopefully this pressure factor will reduce over time.
BTW, also surprised that he completely disappeared after the Olympic performance as he was very young and on the rise (or at his peak) at that time.
Asian shotgun olympic qualifier began today in Kuwait.
We only 1 quota each from mens and womens trap. So, in line for quotas in all 4 events. I really hope we get 1 each mens and womens skeet as than we can also get a mixed team in. We also one very good shooters in each of them- Anantjeet Singh Naruka who won silver at Asian games and Ganemat Sekhon who won a world cup silver last year.

After 75 out of 125 shots, in mens trap, we have Lakshay in 10th position with score of 71 and Zoravar Singh Sandhu 23rd with 68.
In women, Shreyasi Singh is second with 71, Bhavya Ripathi 6th with 68 and Manisha Keer 12th with 65.
Saurabh got criticized from a lot of quarters including people close to him. It takes a great support system to recover from that as a teenager and a lot of the small town kids in India don't have that.

No quota in trap here. Lakshay and Shreyasi reached respective finals. But, Shreysi finished 5th, Lakshay was actually leading by 2 shots after 30 out of 50 shots but then missed 3 out of last 5 shots to finish with a bronze and quota went to China and Iran who won gold and silver. He chocked when it mattered with quota in sight.
I am now hoping for skeet quotas as there we have some outside chance of getting close to medal level, trap we are far behind.
After Day 1 of skeet qualifications with 3 out 5 rounds completed, 2 women and 1 man are in contention for quota.
Ganemat Shekhon and Maheswari Chauhan have scored 71 and 70 and are at #2,#3 behind Chinese shooter who scored 72.
Naruka in Men's is in joint 2nd with 2 more shooters having scored 72 and behind Chinese shooter who scored 73.
Hoping they all will continue the good run tomorrow and earn quota.
