Re: Indian Shooting thread
Well at least Manu won a quota before her usual collapse - she was 1st or 2nd and then slipped to 4th and lost in the shoot-off.
Kind of on brand for her.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Still this was a better final for her at least till midway thru when she was tied 1st. Quota secured at least.
Hope by Paris she solves her final issues.
Second quota in pistol. Fourth quota here. Hope we get a couple more.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
So China won the gold even though India and Iran led the competition for the most part, these Chinese shooters are just mentally clutch and finish very strong.
Quota wise, we are 7/8 in rifle, and 2/8 in pistol and shotgun each now. As sameer said, 2 more would be nice but ideally we get 1 more in each.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Yes,that would be ideal. But, only 1 pistol event left now- men's 25M rapid fire pistol and I doubt if Anish and co can do anything in that event.
I have hope in women's 50M 3P and men's trap

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Vijayveer’s 4th place at the Asiad would earn us a quota spot here. I wouldn’t count it out, 5 Asians including 2 Chinese already have a quota spot.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Yes, in fact all 3 Indian team shooters had a good start. Anish with 294 ( 2 better than Asian games), Vijayveer with 292 (3 more than AG) and Adarsh too with 292( 5 more than AG). 2nd, 6th and 7th place currently out of those shooters eligible for final.
Yes, you are were right, sinhombre. Looks like good chances in this event too. In fact, if the positions remain the same as is after stage 1, 2 Chinese, 2 Koreans and 2 Indians in 6 team final than quotas for Korea and India will be decided at qualification stage itself.
But, Anish and all are known to fall away on day 2 as they did at Asian games. So, not counting anything granted as of now. Lets see.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
At the end of day 1, in mens trap- veteran Zoravar Singh Sandhu is in second place at 71 but other 2 - AG bronze medalist Kynan Chenai and Prithiviraj Todaimann had a bad day with 65 and 63 respectively. Kynan is 5 points behind 6th place and Prithiviraj further behind. They need 2 perfect rounds tomorrow and hope others falter. Only 3 Asians had a quote somewhere- 1 each from Taiwan,India and Kuwait. So, one will have to probably finish in top 2 to get a quota in this event.
In womens trap, all of our shooters are far away from 6th place. So, getting into final will need a miracle.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Yeah Rajeshwari is the only one doing well in the women’s trap but obviously she is not eligible.
In general, scores across the board are very low. Unsure why.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Anish qualifies for final with a 588 and as 2 Chinese and a Japanese already have a quota, gets our third quota in pistol.
5th quota in this championships so far.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
And Anish got a bronze in the final. He lost a shootoff against a Japanese for silver. For a change, 3 Chinese finished 4th, 5th and 6th in the final. Quite rare happening.
In the meantime, in mens trap, Zoravar Singh Sandhu finished 2nd in qualification with a 119. Other 2 Indian shooters disappointed with only with only 111 each.
China, India, Qatar, Iran, Kuwait and Kazakhstan in final and all are eligible for quota. So, one needs at least a silver for quota.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
What happens to the other quota given the Korean in the final also has a quota already?

Shagun just missed out on the finals. Rajeshwari has gotten more consistent.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
3 Chinese were in the final and they already had their quota slate full and Japanese shooter had earned quota earlier. So, 4 out of 6 shooters were ineligible for quota. Remaining 2 shooters from Korea and India got 2 quotas from here.Sin Hombre wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 5:15 amWhat happens to the other quota given the Korean in the final also has a quota already?

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Shgaun was anyway not part of 3 member team like Rajeshwari and was shooting only for ranking. So, would not have made the final even if she had shot enough to reach the final. Preeti Rajak, Manisha Keer and Sabeera Haris were part of official team.Sin Hombre wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 5:19 am Shagun just missed out on the finals. Rajeshwari has gotten more consistent.
Please see these qualification results from ISSF site-

Those mentioned as RPO are shooting only for ranking points.
