Wonderful. This is how Bops is, which is why I have been reluctant to criticize him, even though there were many cases where the forum has criticized him -- going back to playing (or not playing) doubles with MB, LP, etc, and recently about his not playing with RamK.sameerph wrote: ↑Tue Apr 11, 2023 5:03 pm This is a nice article on Rohan talking about junior players from Kamesh- Bopanna spends time with junior players before leaving for Europe
I hope he is someone who can nurture some Indian junior to some success. Something which Mahesh and Leander have failed to do. Mahesh at least tried in his early retirement days by part funding Sumit, Karman etc. But, Leander seems to have totally vanished from the tennis scene since he retired.
His advise to Rethin Pranav to run 3 km every day was fantastic. I had always thought that running is what our youngsters need to do enough of. Stamina is sometimes mental too. When you know how much running you have done, you won't think of getting tired in the third set. I remember how dedicated Somdev was about his daily running, when he stayed with me as a 16-17 year old.
More importantly, it seems pretty clear that Vihaan really has India in the plans, rather than USA. That is great, considering that he is the #1 player in the US at his age (I think he was top-3 in USTA ranks even before the ITF run in India). His parents' making him available for newspaper reports, and getting close to Bops etc are good signs.
