They again lost in a close final against Rajeev and Joe.

At Adelaide International 250, Australia (Hard)

[F] (2) Rohan Bopanna (IND) /Matthew Ebden (AUS) l. (3) Rajeev Ram (USA) / Joe Salisbury (GBR) 57 75 9-11

Nonetheless, good week before Australian open. Bops has no point to defend at Australian open, so a good run will further boost his ranking points tally.

For the record, the R1 win at the AO with Matthew Ebden, 76(5) 46 (10-2) against James Duckworth and Marc Polmans, was career win #500 for Bopanna in doubles. Congratulations, young man Bops!

Hope his 25th tour title and first GS doubles title will happen at this AO.

It did happen at this AO. His first mens doubles grand slam title and world #1. All at 43.

And with that he has made sure of qualifying for olympics at age 44. What a time Bops is having.

Will we see a singles slam winner at 43? We can never say never. But, I doubt it. Not denigrating the great achievement. Just observing.

Congratulations Rohan. I would be happy if he mentors Yuki or RamK to reach the top in doubles.

He was ready to mentor and had invited them to his camp a year ago, but they didn't go, right?

Right now though, as Olympics is the only thing left for him before retiring and probably has several months of slack time when his rank is assured to stay in the top-10, he should try to pick somebody to partner for a few events.

To win a single tournament in doubles, i don’t know if they need to play together for very long time. Figure out who is the best partner. May be even play with multiple partners for a week or two and identify the best fit. If he can get the elusive doubles olympic medal, that would be the pinnacle of his career.

He did have a camp at the end of 2023 too where Yuki and most of our top 10 doubles players were there-

Rohan Bopanna’s doubles camp in Bengaluru is a big hit

So, he is doing his part in mentoring.

Defending Champions Bops and Ebden lost in first round at Indian Wells against Belgian player Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen 67(1) 64 8-10.

With that Rohan has dropped from world #1 in live ranking and has gone down to #2 with American Austin Krajicek taking over the #1 rank.

Well, that is a little low for a leap year. It should have been just a tad bit more.

What a Win by RB/ME..In the Miami Masters 2024..had three Set Points in the 1St Set, Lost them,Other teams probably wouldn't have had the Mentality for A Comeback Losing Multiple Set Points & The Set. Regrouped & took the match in the 3Rd Set.STB...

.There Certainly was Tension in The Air in the STB..with Double Faults Creeping in..RB/ME however prevailed Knowing the Importance of the Situation ..Along with their Skills.. :-)

Another Feather in the Cap for Rohan Bopanna.. :notworthy:
Breaking his own records,As Probably not one is Even near to breaking them .Now He is the Oldest Masters Champion at 44Yrs &26Days & Also the Oldest No 1 In MD . :notworthy: :bounce:

RB(Rohan Bopanna)has overtaken MB(Mahesh Bhupathi)in the Most Weeks at No1Category in MD(Among Indians :notworthy: )

.RB has Six (6)Weeks as of Now,Where as MB Could Manage only about 4Weeks at No1 in MD..in his Career :D .

.
LP(Leander Paes) is sitting pretty at 39Weeks (All Time Indian Record) :notworthy:

With RB Clinging to the No1Spot Again next week,We can Expect more Weeks at the No1 Spot for RB..but Breaking LP's Record of 39 Weeks will require some Seriously good performance/Results..Only Time will tell.. :goodluck:
