Bops and Ebden also lost in second round. :-(

At Rome Masters 1000, Italy (Clay)

[R2] (7) Rohan Bopanna (IND)/ Matthew Ebden (AUS) l. Alex de Minaur (AUS) / Jason Kubler (AUS) 62 67(8) 10-12

They missed match points in both second set tie break and match tie break.

Good that Bops has already sealed top 10 spot for next Monday.

Which entry date ? For Olympics ? That is next year June. Long way off. I was just talking from some sort of achievement point of view at this age.

Haven’t seen Bops enter any tournaments since Wimbledon.
His partner is playing with someone else in Washington. Anyone know if Bops is injured?

^^^ No. He is taking a longer break than usual after Wimbledon which is understandable for his age. He starts from Toronto where he is in the entry iist along with Ebden.

[R1] (4) Rohan Bopanna (IND)/ Matthew Ebden (AUS) bye

[R2] (4) Rohan Bopanna (IND)/ Matthew Ebden (AUS) d. Jamie Murray (GBR) /Michael Venus (NZL) 63 63

Next,

[QF] (4) Rohan Bopanna (IND)/ Matthew Ebden (AUS) vs. (7) Marcel Granollers (ESP)/ Horacio Zeballos (COL)

Granollers and Zabollos have been in good form of late reaching SF at Roland Garros and final at Wimbledon.

Bops and Ebden lost in a close match.

At ATP Masters 1000 Toronto, Canada (Hard)

[QF] (4) Rohan Bopanna (IND)/ Matthew Ebden (AUS) l. (7) Marcel Granollers (ESP)/ Horacio Zeballos (COL) 57 76(6) 8-10

Bops has gone down a bit to #11 in ATP rankings now and Ebden is at career high of #7. No points to defend in next 3 weeks of US hard court season though, So, hopefully he will move up to top 10 back by end of it.

Rohan has reached the quarter final of the Shanghai Masters. I think nobody reported this.

He is still #7 in live rankings. Everyone above him has lost in Shanghai though, so if he wins this tournament ,he will go to #5.

From the olympics qualification perspective, his big points to defend are mostly post June 24 which is the cut off for Paris Olympics qualification. So, I think if he has a decent first half with couple of deep runs in 500 and above tournaments will do, a good run at Australian open will be even better as he has nothing to defend there.
