This one is beating players ranked higher. All the very best. Hope this is not one off like Sahaja. And hope Sandeepti proves hers was not one off like many others.

Vaishnavi lost in QF against second seed.

[QF] (Q) Vaishnavi Adkar (IND,NR) l (2) Lisa Mays (AUS,615) 26 26

Still a very good run by her.

This week at Monastir W15, Vaishnavi has again reached the FQR and will face the same player she beat last week - Viktoria Veleva. I’m surprised that the organizers didn’t award her a main draw WC. Also, 18yo Lakshmi Gowda joins V upsetting the second seeded Indian origin player Shria Atturu in Q2.

Isha Budwal has received a MDWC and Jennifer Luikham is the second seed. Aryan Shah will make the main draw at M15 Monastir, using his junior exemption.

Why should other countries award wildcards to our players, especially someone who is no great shakes? Only our own idiots give WCs to create sensationalism like one to Bjorg's son, etc.

^^^ Tunisian ITF organizers always hand out wildcards to international players. Perhaps, as an incentive to keep them coming back for prolonged periods.

Rishab Agarwal has reached the final qualifying round of the M15 Antalya Futures. Hope he qualifies.

^^^ Sometimes tournaments sell wildcards too. I don't want to accuse the Tunisians specifically of it, but that also happens some on the tour! They have events every week and do not have Tunisians to whom to constantly give wildcards. So the Monastir wildcards have gone to a lot of players out there. It is a great thing they do there, holding these events all year long. It is a great thing for the players. I do not understand the economics of it though.

I believe if you commit to staying at the resort in Tunisia for a few weeks, you can get a wild card.

At the Monastor W15 qualies, 12th seed Vaishnavi again upset the 5th seed Veleeva to make the main draw. To my surprise, Saumya Vij also qualified in. She was seeded 10th and beat the 6th seed Maddalena Giordano, 76(5) 67(11) [13-11], in a barn-burner 3 hour match. In the R1, Vaishnai a qualifier Jiayu Xu (CHN,ITF-1342) and 28 year old Saumya plays Camilla Gennaro (ITA,1209).

Jay, to add more to your surprise, our Jenny Luikham won again. That too, a 3-setter! Vaishnavi and Saumya won their doubles first round. Hope these wins keep coming from Tunisia this week. (Except for Aryan Shah who lost to Omni Kumar in the opening round).

Vishnavi took out Jiayu, 60 61... Man, she is in good form. Saumya Vig went down 16 16.

In the second round, Vaishnavi plays Elena Karner (AUT,1258) who upset the top seed Lisa Mays, and the 2nd seed Jennifer faces Salma Drugdova (SLO,1132)

Vaishnavi will get into WTA rankings with this point earned from third tournament. Her scoreline continue to be impressive.

Great win for V. Adkar! Predicting a straight set win for her in R2 and the draw has opened up nicely with no seeded player in her quarter, as well! :goodluck:

Vaishnavi took the first set 6-2 against her R2 opponent. :D And wins the second set 6-4. Second consecutive QF for V.Adkar! :D I hope soon we will be able to watch her play (through a W25 or higher event).

Vaishnavi's QF is against a 19 year old qualifier Hanna Bougouffa (FRA, ITF-691) who would be fancying her chances against the 18 year old ITF-662 Indian qualifier, but technically she will have to pull an upset :)
