So, two of our 18 year olds knocked out in the first round including Hitesh Chauhan. Let's see how Arjun Rathi and Paparkar do in the second round.

Second round results -

SD Prajwal Dev (IND/1) d. Madhwin Kamath (IND) 6-2 6-0
Manish Sureshkumar (IND/6) d. Maan Kesharwani (IND) 6-3 6-2
Grigoriy Lomakin (KAZ/3) d. Abhinav Sanjeev Shanmugam (IND) 6-3 6-3
Nitin Kumar Sinha (IND/8) d. Arjun Rathi (IND/Q) 4-6 6-1 6-3

Siddhant Banthia (IND) d. Dev Javia (IND/2) 6-2 1-6 6-3

Unfortunately, our 2 remaining 18 year olds lost in the second round. Now, we have 7 Indian in QF but the youngest player in 23 year old Rohan Mehra. You really want your younger players to do well in these tournaments at home tournaments which has somewhat weaker field.

Looks like Aryan Shah is playing doubles here and made the SF in doubles. He could have played singles and collected 25 points here.

There is a rule or something states that, you can't withdraw from a challenger and play ITF, 1 week before the tournament

I don't know why we should be unhappy about 23 year olds doing well. A lot of the Indian players who were 18-20 during the Covid years received a huge setback to their careers then, and are only now coming into their own. The 18-year-olds will have to earn their spurs in the pro ranks.

The doubles final is 1-SD Prajwal Dev/Nitin Sinha vs. 3-Aryan Shah/Atharva Sharma.

Banthia (probably the highest ranked Indian in doubles among those present in Bhopal, at 151) chose not to play doubles to concentrate on singles.

Yes, possibility of upside is much more for 18-21 year olds. Now, in the SF the youngest player ( both Digvijay and Sid Banthia) is 25. Hope they turn out to be late bloomers.

Yes, Aryan had withdrawn from Playford Challenger this week. A player is now allowed to withdraw from a challenger after a withdrawal deadline is over and enter a futures.

A bit silly that after an M25 last week, we are now back down to an M15 -- in Gwalior this time, but with a similar field. Aryan Shah is the top seed in singles this week.

Early results:
[R1] Ivan Iutkin (RUS, UNR; 100j, CH 30j) d. Q-Aditya Vardhan Duddupuddi (IND) 75 62
[R1] Abhinav Sanjeev Shanugam (IND, 1621; CH 509) d. 5-Ishaque Eqbal (IND, 1061; CH 768) 62 75
[R1] 4-Grigoriy Lomakin (KAZ, 961) d. Parth Aggarwal (IND) 76(1) 60
[R1] WC-Sarthak Suden d. Q-Freek vonDonselaar (NED, UNR) 46 61 62

In fact it is a stronger field this week than the last one with top 3 seeds - Aryan, SidRawat and Chirag Duhan entering here who were not there last week.
