WTT Champions Frankfurt 2025

[R1] Manav Thakkar (IND,39) d. Tomislav Pucar (CRO,30) 12-10, 3-11, 11-6, 5-11, 11-7

What a great win for Manav. It was a close match with 6-6 in the final game, Manav played well in the last and won the match.
This was Manav's first ever win at a WTT Champions event. He is through to the round of 16.
There was a new foreign coach in his box. Good to see him win and :goodluck: for the next round as it only gets tough from here.

Manush is a a little behind in the rankings so he needs to step up to reach Manav's level. Then we can get them playing in those big events. Manav has improved as he is playing with a club in Montpellier where the Lebrun brothers play.
However, we are happy to see them play as a team, since they are World Number 7. :bounce: woohoo

WTT Champions Frankfurt 2025

Manav got sick and gave a walkover in the 2nd round against Felix Lebrun :(

[R1] Manika Batra (IND,52) l. (WC) Annett Kaufmann (GER,53) 5-11, 5-11, 7-11
Manika was leading 5-4 in the first game. It was all Annett after that.

Fun fact - The 19-year-old Annett Kaufmann is taller than Manika Batra (5'11") at 6'0"

In a low table sport like table tennis which requires quick reflexes, I assume that height is probably a disadvantage...

Yeah that's right. The only advantage of height is a good reach; shorter players, however, often have better reflexes.

Height is a mixed bag. Height also allows for bigger reach and makes it a little easier to smash, etc. But, the key is footwork. If you are tall, you need a bit more better footwork.

Manav is now WR# 35 which is his career best ranking. Let's keep going Manav
