Kriish Tyagi thread

Post by PKBasu »

17 year old Kriish Tyagi earns a thread of his own by virtue of his terrific run to the singles SF of the M25 in Ahmedabad, a tournament he entered with no ATP ranking. Kriish is also ranked 48 among juniors, with a career high of 33.

This week's run so far (coming in with a wildcard into the qualifiers!!):

[Q1] W-Kriish Tyagi d. Jagmeet Singh (IND, 1612; CH 1559) 62 75
[Q2] d. Vishnu Vardhan (IND, 1075; CH 262) 36 64 11-9 :notworthy:
[Q3] d. Hitesh Chauhan (IND, 1881; CH 1692) 63 76(6)

[R1] Q-Kriish Tyagi (IND, UNR) d. 8-Yanki Erel (TUR, 596; CH 325) 62 36 76(2) :notworthy:
[R2] d. Nitin Kumar Sinha (IND, 1202; CH 774) 46 64 61
[QF] d. Siddharth Vishwakarma (IND, 790; CH 585) 76(5) 16 64

I am also really excited about Kriish but it is too early to start this thread, as per our guidelines.

Again, I think this is a well-earned thread, for a promising junior who has had a string of very good wins (particularly over Vishnu Vardhan and Yanki Erel, both formerly ranked in the top-350, the latter at 325 just last year) at age 17. I think we make exceptions for youthful achievements, and they usually pan out quite well.

A guideline not enforced is a guidewish. :-)

Not always. There are threads opened for Yuvan Nandal and Shruti Ahlawat which were opened 2-3 year back and still not gone beyond one page. I hope they eventually turn out to long ones. But, it is better to open threads when there is likely to be a lot of discussion in the individual thread in subsequent year or so.

We should just open a thread for threads opened by PKB. When they reach their “established” threshold, we can promote them to usual player threads. Let PKB open threads to his heart’s fullest desire this way.
