4 Indians are at new career highs in doubles this week (based on the live rankings). This is the India top-10:

6 Rohan Bopanna
41 Yuki Bhambri (NCH)
61 N. Sriram Balaji (NCH)
85 Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan
92 Arjun Kadhe (NCH)
101 Vijay Sundar Prashanth
102 Rithvik Bollipalli (NCH)
111 Niki Kaliyandi Poonacha
121 Anirudh Chandrasekhar
141 Ramkumar Ramanathan

VSP (80), Niki (98), Anirudh (87), Ramkumar (58) all have career-highs inside the top-100.

Since challenger schedule for the year is over, updating our year ending doubles rankings.

These are our top 11 doubles players as of the end of 2024 who are in top 200-

15 Rohan Bopanna (3)
48 Yuki Bhambri (62)
65 N. Sriram Balaji (74)
72 Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli (CH) (173)
79 Arjun Kadhe (107)
98 Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (94)
110 Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha (157)
111 Vijay Sundar Prashanth (83)
116 Anirudh Chandrashekhar (87)
134 Ramkumar Ramanathan (176)
176 Saketh Myneni (98)

So, overall I do not see great progress this year, we had 7 Indians in top 100 last year, now we have 6. Now, we have 2 in top 50 though with Yuki joining Bops there.
The only one who is at his career high is Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli and he is the one whose progress this year has been best among Indians and he is the youngest of the lot at 23 and he is also the youngest player in the world in top 75. So, he is currently appearing as our biggest hope in doubles.

And as it looks like none of the top 10 Indians are playing anywhere this year, this week's rankings are pretty much year end ranking in singles too and these are our top 10 players-

98 Sumit Nagal (138)
366 Sasikumar Mukund (511)
394 Ramkumar Ramanathan (442)
467 Karan Singh (795)
591 Aryan Shah (1240)
633 Dev Javia (1354)
694 Siddharth Vishwakarma (745)
779 SD Prajwal Dev (616)
866 Adil Kalyanpur (1967)
870 Dakshineswar Suresh (1085)

If one looks at rankings comparison compared to last year end, except for SDPD everyone in top 10 has made progress. But, top 3 Sumit, Mukund and RamK are below their career best. The ones who came up really fast this year are 21 year old Karan, 19 year Aryan and 22 year old Dev. These 3 are young and hope within a couple of year they break coveted top 250 barrier which takes players to grand slam qualifying draws.

Also the brighter younger players who are below top 10 are 20 year old Chirag Duhan ranked 961, 19 year old Yuvan Nandal ranked 1010, 16 year old Manas Dhamne ranked 1059.

So, with this and juniors like Rethin Pranav, Kriish Tyagi and Hitesh Chauhan we have a talented pool of 9-10 players in 16-22 age group.

Than, we have DKS who is 24 but looks like ready to go up fast in pros once he quits college.

I think 4-5 of these can move up to upto top 250 level and better in next 2-4 years. Overall scenario looks good on mens side at this point.

Updating top 10 year end WTA rankings for our players and these are our top 10-

285 Ankita Raina (215)
324 Shrivalli Bhamidipatti (534)
352 Sahaja Yamlapalli (417)
397 Vaidehi Chaudhary (485)
458 Rutuja Bhosale (338)
657 Zeel Desai (542)
684 Vaishnavi Adkar (923)
695 Riya Bhatia (916)
884 Tanisha Kashyap (995)
894 Akanksha Nitture (1303)

So, incredibly Ankita remains our year end top ranked for 11th straight year since 2014 ( maybe 12 but I am not getting year end rankings as on end of 2013 anywhere to confirm) . But, I guess this is going to be the her last year as year end number 1.

Good progress by Shrivalli, Sahaja, Vaidehi and Vaishnavi and these are the 4 who I hope will make bigger progress in 2025 and we have a couple of top 250 players at by next year end.

Also looking forward to see if Karman is making it back to her best level and also if Maaya takes steps on senior pro tour.

The WTA site has rankings for Nov 2013 as it’s year end rankings and that has Ankita at 294 with Prarthana Thombare at 425. So, Ankita was most likely our top player at 2013 year end as well.

If Ankita remains distraction free, she will remain top 250. I hope that happens and I would rather have Sahaja and Shrivalli and Maaya earn their No. 1 spot by moving into the Grand Slam Qualies range.

Yes, in that case, Ankita has finished the year as India #1 which is 12 straight years. This is incredible, this is most likely the longest run as India #1 in tennis in singles or doubles I think.

Although we are in the middle of an active week, here are the top Indian doubles players' rankings currently (with CHs in parentheses):

26 Yuki Bhambri (NCH)
43 Rohan Bopanna (1)
59 N Sriram Balaji (NCH)
68 Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli (65)
93 Arjun Kadhe (76)

102 Vijay Sundar Prashanth (80)
111 Anirudh Chandrasekhar (87)
126 Niki Kaliyandi Poonacha (98)
158 Ramkumar Ramanathan (58)
204 Siddhant Banthia (198)

Arjun Kadhe has been inactive for quite awhile. Is he injured?

Yes, I saw Arjun getting badly injured during a challenger match in late October playing along with Rithvik which was just a couple of week after they had won an ATP 250 title. He had to be carried I think after he badly twisted something during the rally. That was unfortunate. Arjun might be waiting for his injury protected ranking to kick in for which he has to wait till end April. His IPR would be around 80 with which he may have some chance of getting into grand slam main draws and some ATP draw. So, he may start playing in May I think if he is back fit.

Slight changes at end of the week, with Anirudh's title at Girona:

26 Yuki Bhambri (NCH)
44 Rohan Bopanna (1)
60 N Sriram Balaji (NCH)
69 Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli (65)
93 Arjun Kadhe (76)
95 Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (64)
100 Anirudh Chandrasekhar (87)
105 Vijay Sundar Prashanth (80)
128 Niki Kaliyandi Poonacha (98)
158 Ramkumar Ramanathan (58)
204 Siddhant Banthia (198)
217 Saketh Myneni (74)

So, 7 Indians in the top-100 of doubles now.
